HELP ! should i cut or clean bulk?? pics included !

So im fairly new to this site and i've been reading up and soaking up as much information as i can.
however, i still have some questions

    1)im 17 5'9 156 pounds my dad is 6ft and my mom is 5'6
if i work out and get on a strict diet could it prevent me from growing?

2)i am trying to get a body like the picture below. Should i bulk up or should i cut first?
and if i have to bulk up is there any way that i could bulk up without becoming a fat ass?
    thank you

How long would a clean bulk last for someone with my body type? And should I incorporate cardio with weight lifting?

There is no answer to how long should clean bulk. Most people clean bulk until:

    1. They are happy with their size
    2. They become so fat that they just can't stand it and decide to cut.

I've been clean bulking for over a year now and I've gained over 25 pounds and barely any bodyfat. In fact, I still have a six pack. To be as ripped as Ryan Reynolds, you will definitely need to cut EVENTUALLY, but NOT NOW!

Go on a clean bulk for 1-2 years. Also, I can just ahout guarantee that if you clean bulk you will gain muscle and lost a little body fat as well. I started out last March at 190 pounds and 12% body fat. I clean bulked for a year and now weigh 220 pounds and 8% body fat. As a beginner it's definitely possible to gain muscle a lose fat.

Get on a program like starting strength or 5x5. You can find a sticky describing it in the teen section. After you've gained some strength, move on to a bodybuilding split. I'm currently using a routine called PHAT(power/hypertrophy adaptive training) by Layne Norton and I'm getting great results.

As far as diet, eat a lot of oats, chicken, eggs, brown rice, peanut butter, milk, etc... Try and aim to gain 1-2 pounds/week. If you're not gaining weight then up your calories. If you're gaining TO MUCH weight then lower the calories.

Also, as far as protein, try and get approximately 1 gram per pound of body weight. So if you, for example, weigh 200 pounds, try and get 200 grams of protein/day.

This is the most basic information you'll need. Continue to read articles online, learn, and most importantly...ASK QUESTIONS!!! there is SOOO much to learn about bodybuilding and fitness, and at first it will seem like one big mess. As you learn more and more though, you'll begin to be able to piece things together and make sense out of what you hear.

Also remember, THERE ARE NO RULES IN BODYBUILDING!! So many people will tell you "if you want to get big then lift using x number of reps" or "if you want to lose weight you HAVE to follow this routine" or "if you want to build strength you HAVE to lift this way". The truth is, there are MULTIPLE ways to do everything in bodybuilding. There are multiple ways to lose weight, multiple ways to gain size, multiple ways to build strength, etc...

Good luck!! Sorry my post is so long
