The grainy look is what it is refered to, and the trick is getting your CENSORED perfect... most IFBB guys can't dial them in this perfect consistently. Dorian Yates was one of the few really big guys who could. Completely about fluid balance. However yes, this guy looks extremely impressive.

Not sure where I want to be in terms of phyisque as an ideal goal right now. Somewhere between Reg Park and Arnold with a little more thigh. I do not want the super-shreaded grainy look as I can't maintain it, which means it is just illusion not my day to day physique.

If that is frail and weak you have a distorted view due to bodybuilding. I think you take it too seriously.

I have legit muscle dysmorphia. To me that guy looks very similar to concentration camp victoms from the holocaust maybe 3-5 lbs difference. I can't actually help it, that is what I perceive by default and have to actually stop and use a logic process to convince my brain he has a normal amount of muscle mass, but if I stop focusing on that 5 seconds later he will look like he is wasting away from cancer again.

My fear of weakness stems from my childhood abuse. Earning two black belts then later doing bodybuilding was theraputic in removing my feelings of weakness and creating a sense of personal empowerment.

This. The guy looks like a normal personal who is in shape. Not having 40-50 lbs of extra muscle on your body =/= weak and frail.

It is interesting the way the mind works. Realistically, there are very few instances in your life that you'll actually be able to use your strength or martial art skills without landing yourself in prison.

True. That is why it is good to use it on something productive like weight lifting. I get to use mine regularly in my MMA training also so that is another big stress reliever. If I didn't idk wtf I would do, probably start trouble.

Medialis = inner, lateralis = outer

Overloading the quads is going to work best....I have (used to be better ) a decent sweep (vastus lateralis) and what worked for me was pre exhausting with leg extensions and then moving on to weighted walking lunges, hacks and very high rep close stance leg press like 20-30 reps a set....pick a weight you can get 15 for and then do breathing reps to the end of the set. Even forced leg press reps help.

Squats for me have always been ham and glute dominant so I don't do them to focus on quads.

By forced leg press reps you mean hands on knees and just forcing yourself to push out the reps even if they're assisted by your hands? My medialis is larger than my lateralis. Random proportions make me want to end myself. not srs.
I'm not sure on the % thing...but 60 sounds a bit low. I never thought of hands on knees for forced reps but that could work, I always just grab someone to move the sled. 20-30 might be overkill but legs are a weird muscle, I've never felt that I did too much for them like I do sometimes with upper body.

The restpause/breathing reps technique is really really effective....and will create some iron balls when it comes to training, so much pain. Though of course squats should be pretty staple....I always liked training quads on their own day and then having a hamstring/squat focus day where I also hit quads.

    C) Went to failure.
    D) Disregarded what I read about eating more on leg or back days (Thanks Manu!) and thus took a long time to recover.
    E. Too much volume and weight all of a sudden.

Which is why I'm restarting the program tomorrow. I've got a good p-ratio, so I'm just going to go 300 calories over by the time my reverse is over. The extra 50 kcal accounts for 1 lb extra every 70 days and a bunch of mental masturbation later, that extra pound would be mostly muscle rebuilt rather than fat. As far as the SS program goes, I've just added some arm isolation work, BB or DB rows, flyes, and some other fluff crap. I expect I'll only have to run it for 3, maybe 4 months max before having to switch to a moderate program to has me pushing the limit. People told me the advancement of SS would be like 2x the speed for me compared to some amateur.
Yup, address those issues and you'll be golden. and keep the foam rolling and cardio in...especially the days off, and 1-2 days after leg days. will help a lot.

But I did light cardio the next few days and the muscles get tense and ache a few hours after the cardio and then go away. So I figured the muscle tissue hasn't fully repaired yet because of the calorie intake I have to be at to get everything working again slowly. So with pain I'm essentially ****ed until the surplus is high enough where repair can be done in a timely manner, correct? I found grabbing my ankle from behind and lifting my leg in reverse lengthen the muscle and helps get the kinks a roller takes way too long to do. But it also points out that my quads were weakened and not able to support the extra 50 lb, and I figured that out because my glutes have been in pain since.

ETA: Bought a few boxes of Pop Tarts to bust my bulk cherry in the upcoming weeks. So esssited. I remember busting my first bulk cherry. A pound of brown rice with a half pound of chicken breast. That was 7 years ago, lolz.
    rather than doing
    Legs
    Rest
    cardio

    you should do
    Legs
    Cardio
    Rest/foam rolling

work out the lactic acid, keeps muscles loser and more flexible
