basically my bedtime snack consists of protein shake 140cals
2 pieces of bread = 140 cals
= 280 cals
thinking of adding some fat, 15 peanuts = 80 cals
does protein help sleep? or is will it keep me up?
tonight prolly gonna do protein shake + nuts + 1 or 2 slices of bread

Tryptophan, its an amino acid found in protein, its what makes some folks sleepy after eating turkey.

I've heard a couple times it's a myth that turkey makes people sleepy. Here's something on the subject I pulled up: http://chemistry.about.com/od/holida...iredturkey.htm
"It's worth noting that other foods contain as much or more tryptophan than turkey (0.333 g of tryptophan per 100 gram edible portion), including chicken (0.292 g of tryptophan per 100 gram edible portion), pork, and cheese. As with turkey, other amino acids are present in these foods besides tryptophan, so they don't make you sleepy. " It's probably the ceremonial gluttony and overeating that is thanksgiving that creates the sleepiness and the turkey is simply an association. A pretty good example that correlation is not causation actually. Most Underrated Exercise: Barbell Hack Squats.
