    Shirataki Noodles? Good or Bad?

They seem to be the most amazing thing ever. How come more people don't have them included in their cutting diets? They seem to be amazing and you could eat so many without worrying about it at all. Is there a reason why people don't use them?

Not enough protein, you need protein to build muscle and fat seems high.

It's not like this would be the only thing eaten. I eat 200g of protein a day. This just looks like it would be something very interesting to put in to a persons diet. It has other names such as the miracle noodle. It has tofu and stuff in it. All google searches talk highly of it but I just want to make sure it won't work against me.

Just try them. Personally I thought they tasted pretty ordinary - don't absorb any flavour at all. Plus they're a bit exxy. Once I stopped eating 6 meals a day during my cut didn't really need them in my meal plan so stopped eating them. Some people swear by them though. Personal preference

I haven't had these before, I don't think... but you can find konyaku in 'noodle' form, and it's supposed to be excellent for digestive health. Add in a source of protein and some broth (hopefully not too salty) and you can have a nice little meal.

They certainly sound healthier than ramen or udon.
Back with my nose to the grindstone. Trying only fails when you stop. :)

Shirataki Noodles rocks. I believe it's the exact same thing as Konyaku except it's molded into the noodle shape.

Some brand of the Noodles are zero calories. The noodles taste best in Sukiyaki imo. Use a little meat and lots of veggies and Shirataki noodles and you can make a pretty filling meal with very little calories.

Are you retarded? You can add a protein to it....
Yes they are good for cutting. Especially if you're on a low carb diet. I used to use them all the time till I got tired of the texture.

they are not absorbent....at all. Various techniques to improve this include soaking them in hot water or vinegar for 10-30 minutes. Even then, they are not like the real thing.

That being said however...you can't beat the 0 calorie bonus.

If you have a local chinese grocery store in your area, you can find these type of noodles and a few other variations for way less than the "miracle noodle" brand

When I ordered Miracle noodles I think they were about $2 - $2.50 a pack. At the local chinese grocery store they sell some brands for under $1. If you are afraid to go just ask an asian friend to guy buy you some (I end up buying them for my friends who are cutting). They are usually sold next to the tofu or any other refrigerated part of the store.

It taste awesome and very filling!
I eat 2 packs of shirataki noodles everyday to curb my hunger while on cutting diets.
IMO people don't use it because its not that popular yet, quite expensive, and there are many better and cheaper options out there.

I tried the angel hair noodles tonight. SO much better then the fat macaroni ones. I cooked them up with some black beans, veggies, and chicken with 1/4 cup of salsa and a little franks red hot. FILLED me up it was so good. I finally ran 5k today without slowing down so it was a big day and this meal was amazing.

My buddy and I went to get them, at first the culture shock inside was a little different but then it was kinda fun. Everyone was so friendly and helpful, I have no problems going to get them. They sell for 1.25 a pack here. Great buy, highly recommended.

They are best cooked in an "asian" style stir fry and not as a sort of Italian pasta. Toss em in with some chicken/beef, mushrooms, onions, peppers and soy sauce + vinegar. BOMB.

Sorry for the uninformed question but isn't soy sauce bad? Even low sodium? I thought that would work against my cut

mmmm, i'll defer to other posters. I generally don't get super anal about stuff like that and if couple of spoons of soy sauce helps a meal taste good i go for it. Everything in moderation helps keep me a bit more sane.

The thinner spagghetti and angel hair ones taste a heck of alot better than the fettichini (however the heck you spell it). I've tried both the 30 calorie tofu version and the white/clear (srs) 0 calorie version.

The only way I could eat it with a decent taste was to add a good amount of marinara sauce. It's really calorie efficient and filling, but I had to stop eating them; for some reason, Shirataki noodles made me nauseous afterwards.

I use them on my cut... great with any "saucy" dishes. Also, there is a rice which is a good substitute for use in things like chicken vindaloo (made in crockpot, good cut food).

A tip I've been using when making these noodles:
    - Strain first as normal, 30 secs or so.
    - Toss in boiling water for a 1 minute
    - Throw on a hot pan (they will make a squeeling sound as the water escapes) and toss until they are ultra-dry.
    - Now they will absorb flavors... throw them in your sauce, etc.
Lost over 100 pounds so far. Currently going for losing final 30 pounds in 6 weeks with PSMF... homestretch log: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=170533901

This, they're gross as F. I just eat real noodles, with real red sauce of some kind like I'm Italian, I even have olive oil with my bread. I'm living the dream.
"Everyone thinks they're on their way to single digit body fat as soon as they see a blurry four-pack in the right lighting.Your final body weight at 5-6% will be a lot less than what you think.Talk to me again when you get in contest shape." I'd be willing to say that 95% of people on this forum accomplish nothing in years, don't be one of those people. It's sad, they seem to have the knowledge many don't but can't utilize it.

The most typical shirataki noodles do not contain soy and are zero calories. They are 100% fiber, they expand in your stomach and make you feel like you ate a bowl of pasta, but you didn’t. They are the biggest low calorie tool I have. Don’t eat more than a package at a time, they will expand. Do you get fiber in your food? I do.
