All theoretical here but I want to know what is considered the 'norm' here.
If a guy asks you out for an evening, he picks you up and takes you out to a free event that lasts several hours long then afterwards you grab a bite to eat and then into the evening you hit up a bar for some drinks and to enjoy live music. Do you expect him to pay your tab(s) for the entire day? I have heard several variances depending on who made the plans, vs whether it's initial dating or someone you've dated for a while, to depends on how much the female likes the guy etc. Thanks ladies.

I'm not comfatable having everything paid for me, I always offer to pay half. If he insists on paying for the meal I'd make sure I paid for the drinks.

Will pay for your half
OP.... you're 28 and not sure if you should carry the tab on a date? If you are taking someone to a free event, and can't pay the tab for drinks... I would question if you have the financial ability to date and would recommend you get your **** together financially.
If you can afford it and didn't pay, I would be dismayed that such disregard for gentlemanly behavior is so prominent.
In other words.... Yes you should falking pay.

OP here's what I'd do if I was you: offer to pay. If she says "no, let's split it" then don't insist and let her pick up her part. That way you don't look like a cheapskate for not even offering to pay. If she doesn't offer to pay her part then you'll have to pay, which is also fair enough since I understand you are the one taking her out. If you generally don't like to pay when you go on dates, then you can either find a woman who finds that attractive, or you need to change your attitude.

Been awhile since I've even browsed this part of the forums, but I guess I found who's the new WK of the female misc
OP, they will usually expect you to pay and not even offer in which case I'd be annoyed pay and probably not talk to them again
If they offer/insist you don't have to pay for everything I'd be fine paying

Thanks for all of the responses people, it certainly helps to apply a more clear perspective to the situation. One thing I did note was that the majority of women that specified they would split it or opt to pay for the drinks if he covered dinner was that you were all above the age of 30. I wonder if this is a late maturity thing as my experience with women in their 20's they appear to feel that they should be handed literally everything while they sit there and enjoy themselves. It's almost as if it's a code they live by of some sort..
acrawlingchaos: Thanks for portraying me as a cheapskate that needs to reevaluate my life on both the levels of finance as well as the dating scene as if you're aware of who I am let alone any knowledge about me. I was with/married to my high school sweetheart for 10 years and haven't been divorced all that long, you maybe shocked at your lack of dating knowledge when you aren't doing it for almost a third of your life... As far as my finances and how solid they are.. Apparently the age of 28 automatically defines that you should have endless funds, great logic but why don't you apply someone that does 20+ of professional school to be a doctor and let me know of all the spare money I likely have lying around.

I'd pay for mine. If he offered I'd let him pay, but I'd be buying his drinks all night. I'd offer to pay his if he diddnt offer to pay mine. If he had me pay for dinner and drinks all night I would feel he was taking advantage of me. I wouldn't want any man to feel I was taking advantage of him so I try to keep it even.
