Now I always hear references of using the courtesy flush to alleviate smell, but I thought it could also be used to mask sounds as well. So what say ye nut misc? Do you use courtesy flush for noise, sound, both, or other?

Urban dictionary is useful.
However, the first 12 entries have to do with odor. Some are really funny.

Yeah, see I think traditionally it was if you were in a public restroom, and there were people in other stalls, you did a courtesy flush so others wouldn't have to smell it sitting there lingering. I even remember a movie/show where a guy was in the restroom, and it stunk, and he yells to the other stall " Hey, can we get a courtesy flush over here?" or something to that effect.
