Some things are hindering my plans right now so im going to slow down my weight loss to 1 pound a week instead of the planned 2 lbs a week.
Why do I do this weightlifting thing for the last 34 years with all its ups and downs life has handed me? Because each time I came back stronger. NEVER GIVE UP. Gym life is about more than muscles getting bigger and weights going up. Its wisdom discipline dedication humility you name it.

i understand what your saying, but honestly, im 32 years old and have been over 300lbs for 15 years......ive tried to incorporate weight training with diet and i always have some bull**** excuse as to why i quit, now i feel like ive never been more motivated because i only have to focus on one thing- the way i eat! if i play basketball 2, 3 ,or no times a week, i still feel like im doing what im supposed to as long as im eating right......the only supps im taking are yellow jackets and a multi....
right on! i was thinking that the marinade wont affect the caloric intake as much in the grand scheme of things....
you have a point, not to mention you have been there and lost all the weight already so i really am grateful for the input. My biggest goal right now is to get under 300lbs for the first time in 10 years.....im 20lbs away! once i get under 300, i will start to incorporate maintenance ideals until i eventually do not need a cheat day. the last thing i want to do is to be a yo yo dieter......im hoping that jsut with cutting fast food and drinking my calories i will start cutting weight...... even on my cheat day im not planning on gorging myself, but just eating what i want in limited quantity's( ie- only 2 slices of pizza instead of a whole pizza...lol) ill keep my fingers crossed."Discipline is the bridge between your goals and achievement."

I'm under 250 lbs for the first time in 3 years. I'm so proud of myself! Just need to use this as motivation to keep going. Total weight loss for the year is 20 lbs, and I'm up to 6 or 7 for this competition (and the one at work).

Agreed, if you lift now while cutting you may build lbm or atleast spare it while cutting.
If you don't lift by the end of your cut you may have the dreaded skinny fat look which means even more work afterwards
Just 2 lifting days minimum(full body) can help alleviate that

I've been kinda behind on reading the posts been busy lately; anyone else doing IF with good results? I'm doing 1-2 meals a day cause my schedule is always different but it seriously feels like I'm having a cheat day every single day with the amount of calories you can eat in a single meal. Started off around 2400 calories on a cut, but just dropped it to 2000 this week.

IF definitely works, imo its harder than IIFYM but they both have the same premise
for me, eating clean every day is difficult, but managing to eat around the same amount of calories is easy
at the end of the day both will result in weight loss, but IF will be healthier in the long run

Curled 90lbs on the EZ-bar for a set of 4, & 3 then went down to 85lbs for the rest of my 5x5.
also did one-arm DB rows with 90lbs for 5x5
Both personal bests for me I think.
I have to look back a few tabs on my spreadsheet to when I was much heavier & thought just lifting weights & "eating healthy" would get me in shape. LOL!

to be honest it works miracles for me considering i dont cook all that often
so when i do eat out im generally able to find out calories from whatever restaurant i buy from
the biggest thing to success with IIFYM is never eating a meal that doesnt have maximum 15cals/1g protein ratio. By just following this i eat WAY better than i used too but i havent given up very much. My stomach has shrank(the organ) and I literally cant eat that much anymore(IE used to scarf down Subway footlongs, can barely finish a 6" sandwich now)
the ratio also ensures that you get your protein regardless what meal you eat

My natural eating habit seems to be more in line with IF, so I've been rolling with it. Of course, when I do this, I need to remember what I'm doing or I end up having a big end of day meal after I've eaten like crap all day.
I'm suffering a mean case of DOMS (glutes to hammies). The toilet is not my friend today...OUCH!Kristin "Never mind your failures today...get back on that horse and RIDE!"

What would you guys suggest for a good workout in here? For the next 1/1.5 months this is what I have to work with. Ive been doing pretty good so far...down almost 8lbs since we started, but Im worried ill lost just as much muscle as fat. Would that 1 machine be adequate for the time being?

Sat weigh in was disappointing but expected. 235.0. This weekend we're busy with business presentations all over South Colorado, so I am not eating right at all. Last night we capped a meeting off at Old Chicago - and while my Calzone was delicious, I'm left with regret! I have resolved to a chicken salad for lunch today though.
Good job bro - I came in heavy. WIll def max intensity Mon and Tuesday and see if I can find a 4 on my digiscale. 234 that is or less!
Me too. SAT and WED. But for me its my gym comp and this thread so I have to report twice a week. I like that Fri concept, but it didn't work for me last night when the group voted Old Chicago for dinner I was like"Oh ****e"Last edited by MilSpec4Life; 02-12-2012 at 08:33 AM.
