Long story short, as soon as most people see someone with any decent amount of muscle and at least semi lean, they accuse them of cell tech.

    ^This is me.

I have zero to add to this thread except that a customer emailed me a question followed with "please respond" on the same day I got another customer whose last name was Mirin.

    True story.

And this is why you never use sarcasm unless you know the person is smart - if they fail to understand it, you alienate them by making them feel stupid like they actually are instead feeling smart like they are not -.-

Good question and one I wanted to bring up when people were considering him an expert... I thought he was some 18 or 19 year old kid who had been lifting weights for a year and is majoring in a field not related to bodybuilding and who has taken his first exercise science course at a university... granted the later would put him at a higher level of education over many gym rats... but hardly makes one an expert as they would lack both real world experience or formal education on the subject.

So... what are the specifics of his real world experience and his education?

I've said my part about why I don't enjoy his attitude, but I don't believe he is claiming to be an expert. Not to mention formal education != education. That certainly is one avenue of education, but to mark up a person's education to only his formal education is short-sighted.

Okay... but I kept watching and waiting for the philosophy to come in.... and waiting... and waiting. Never have I said formal education is the be all end all. But come on, he sounds like a freshman who just took PHIL 101 and now totally understands how the world works.

I am surprised that I am. In an interview with Paul linked here in the Nut Misc I noted he claims to train on I think it was a 3 or a 4 day split, with only one lower body day per week, when Ian has presented information which if true (and having read enough peer reviews I know the evidence is there for what he has said) proves that waiting an entire week between bodyparts is for high dose drug users and isn't wise for the natural trainee as they simply cannot keep their protein synthesis elevated long enough to grow very quickly with such infrequent training.

Greek, what is your take on that personally a well regarding your own training?

Well... social aptitude isn't the same as educational aptitude. I'm pretty sure they don't choose higher educational candidates based on social aptitude like character and "common sense" so much as specialized aptitude in the area they are doing research in.

I use Lyle's generic bulking routine which is essentially an upper/lower split; 4x a week, training each bodypart twice a week.

Fair enough and yes that is the interview... note he has nearly zero leg development, no hamstrings nad no glutes in that photo (to the point where you wonder if he even trains legs at all)... which is strong evidence for natty status, as a tech user would most defintely have far more leg development doing a single volume leg day per week, while a natty will see minimal lower body development on this method do to sheer lack of protein synthesis uptime.

If he has changed training protocols to something more appropriate for a natty, then this answers my question. What about the rest of the NBB crew?

For as long as I've been here he has always advocated hitting the major muscles 2-3x per week and focusing on compound lifts for at least the first three years of serious training. Similar to what Lyle recommends. Both Paul and Julia were big advocates for this as I remember.

Training: WSB, 5/3/1, upper/lower 2x a week, sheiko. All cycled. My training is for the most part conjugated. I take into consideration volume, frequency, load %, tension, deloading, etc.

Good to know. Personally the only time I would recomend a true bodypart split for a natty would be if this is the only they enjoy training and can consistently motivate themself to train regularly and push themself. Even splitting into things like upper/lower push/pull serve only mental and organizational aspects of training... not physiological. Actually the same advices would be given to even conservative "enhanced" athletes... as it takes a lot of supplementation to really make the most of a bodypart split with 7 days between. Although I would describe it more as laziness or a "I don't have to train frequently to see rapid gains because I am on so much **** as long as the volume is there" attitude.

Fair enough. I really was curious after reading that interview then seeing Ian discuss training frequency and natural bodybuilding, and I've long been an advocate of natural trainees spending at least the first couple years doing high frequency full body primarily with barbell work. I don't think most natty individuals will reach a level advanced enough to where an upper lower 2x a week per bodypart protocol will actually yield quite as quick of gains.... simply due to again lack of continual protein synthesis. Some certain can and do, but the majority will not so for them such a change is more an act of mental masterbation and a change of pace than offering any actual advantages unless something in their personal situation requires as such.

@ Matt: I wasn't getting at that. They were dumb as rocks in the sense it was as if they never attended a day of school in their lives. Thankfully due to budget cuts in my city, those people were let go because they were found to be bad at their job. These were people who worked in the education field.
Enhanced bodybuilders obsess over the topic of overtraining just as much, if not more so, than natties do. It is rather comical to observe really.
