"Conventional" DLs vs Sumos" and Wider stance "low bar" squat vs tradition "high bar"

    Hey everyone,

So ive been doing a bit of research on the above lifts, the conventional style deadlift with hands outside legs with a narrower stance and the sumo style with legs wider then hands as well as low on the back bar squats with a bit wider stance vs narrower stanced higher on the back/traps squats. For the deadlifts, im trying to determine which may target the back more effectively for development and for the squats which targets the quads/legs more.

For deads ive always felt more comfortable pulling sumo but many from my search are saying conventional is better for back development. Thoughts on that from any of you major pullers? I feel like I can lift more via sumo but i do know I use alot more quads/glutes/hammies which isnt bad but I want use the lift more for back development.

Same with the squat. I want to use the squat as a more of quad developmenrt but im afriad I squat too wide which then I equip more hips then might be optimal.

Probably, this isnt a big deal worth worrying over but I do know there are some powerlifting oriented bodybuilders in here so I thought id ask

i'm doing smolov right now with a wide stance, low-bar position. i feel absolutely nothing in my quads, but they are growing a ton. i think the best squat or deadlift stance is the one with which you move the most weight and feel most comfortable. moving the big weight and staying injury free will lead to growth IMO

NOTE: I accidently put this thread in the journal section, can a mod move it to the regular contest prep section? I apologize. Thanks.
