    Starting from scratch.... Need advice!

So I'm 19, just got home from college in San Diego and I'm transferring to Spokane, WA to go to Gonzaga University. In all my down time in school I've really gotten into nutrition and fitness and I figured why not make a living off it. So I'm looking to start PT'ing in the city at wherever gym that I can find work, so I have a few questions.

    1) What certification would be ideal for Washington? Is there a type of certification that's more recognized in the area?

    2) I leave for school mid-January, would it be realistic for me to set a test date right before I leave home in California to take a test? I could use all my free time this break to study.

It's not really about the money for me, but just having a job doing something that I like. I'm pretty confident that I can be a good trainer because I'm always reading up on my everything from losing fat, gaining muscle and strength, supplementation, and just about everything else regarding fitness.

*Also, any advice other that doesn't answer my questions would be appreciated too!

    1) I'm not from that area at all, but my recommendation till someone chimes in who is from there is to start checking out all the various gym chains and see what they require to get an idea.

    2) Depends on how motivated you are and you're ability to learn the material.

    Good luck

I'm a very motivated person, and I feel like a lot of the material won't be new to me anyways. I'm the guy in my group of friends who annoys all my other friends with my 2 cents on health/fitness, although I'm certain I have plenty to learn

Well I think acquiring the coursework to study for and setting a test date sounds sounds good if you are motivated like that. For example I am studying to be a NASM CPT. I have 6 months to take the test after I paid for everything, but have been slowly studying due to my other job. Well I now have downtime before school starts in mid January also. I'm forcing myself to HARDCORE study the book (more than a chapter a day) and other available material before New Years, then giving myself that first week of January to review, take the practice tests, etc, and the week after that I'm going to schedule to see when I can take the test. I personally like deadlines.
