The NANBF St. Louis Natural didn't go according to plan. I came in 2-4lbs lighter than 2 wks prior, was much harder, and looked my best onstage to date. I ended up taking 5th out of 11 in a very stacked open class at a super pro qualifier. I am somewhat disappointed with this result as most had me ~3rd after prejudging, but the judges were looking for a softer, fuller look. I can deal with thi...s placing because this is a subjective sport and a top 5 finish at a super pro qual is nothing to be ashamed of; however, I'm very frustrated with the fact that our stacked class of 11 guys was onstage roughly 5 minutes (hence the lack of pictures) and they didn't really move anyone. After winning the NGA Titan Classic, I chose to still do this show because I wanted the oppertunity to compete in a competitve show; however, I (and many others I talked to) felt the judges were more interested in getting out of there than actually judging the class. As a competitor who wants to be compared to the best, I feel very shorted.
Although I am frustrated and disappointed with my experience as a competitor at the contest as a whole, it is in the past and there is nothing I can do to change it. I can promise you all one thing. Good things will come from this. I will look at that 5th place trophy everyday and it will piss me off and I will train/diet harder than anyone else, harder than I can imagine and when I step on the NGA Pro Stage in 2014 I will be bringing a significantly better package to the stage.
Overall, the 2012 contest season was a success. My goal was to do 3 NGA/IFPA Super Pro Qualifiers and take top 5 in my class at each. I did 2 super pro qualifiers and took top 5 in each. I even exceeded my expectations and accomplished my ultimate goal in this sport by winning the overall and my NGA natural pro card at the NGA Titan Classic.
Thank you all for your support through the years and over this prep. I promise you I will be training my ass off for the next 2 years and you will see a much improved physique when I step on the NGA Pro Stage in 2014.Peter Fitschen M.S., PhD Candidate in Nutritional Science

First off I am very proud of you, especially all of the holidays we have endured so far, but the accomplishments with coming in your current best while breaking new barriers in life and school etc a long the way. You stuck through everything, and I personally know what you feel like right now to sometimes have to do 2 a days to get things done, work around a tight schedule of work and training to make it to the gym. I know the way you are feeling, and your mindset is weaker, so congrats on accomplishing all that you have during school.
On the negative side, we have all probably been to a show like that. 11 guys is easily a 15-30 minute judging at the minimum IMO. Sounds pretty much unfair to the competitors who put in the work. We will never know why some judges do this, especiall 7 of them, but it happens. Hopefully the future shows will cope more with the rule book rather than "what they are looking for that day" kind of thing.
I hope I can follow in your footsteps during my seasonwith accomplishments in all aspects. Thank you for a push in my motivation brotha!!!Team Norton

Great results overall Pete and motivation for the coming years as well. Disappoinitng that they did not take more time in prejudging. All the best in your off season and future competitions as a NGA Pro!

Sick season Pete and you just showed everyone on this board how to handle them selves as well. You worked your ass off and got on stage your best ever, no doubt you will only continue that trend into next season. I recently heard someone say that a bodybuilding competition isn't the end of a journey but merely another step to being our best. It's clear thats how you approach this sport. I look forward to watching you progress.

read you're status on FB the night of, way to handle yourself like the true champ you are. looking forward to following along this "improvement season" so you can kill the pro stage in a few years. hopefully by then you'll be done with school and leading a somewhat normal life... just think of how easy that prep will be after going through all of this

Thanks. I can tell you for a fact I am not the only person who was not happy with the fact the rushed us on and off so fast. I have no problems with my placing. I (and others) felt I should have been 3rd, the judges felt otherwise and that is ok because everyone is entitled to an opinion. I am still very frustated that I took the time to do this contest because I didn't feel I was given the chance to actually compete. I really enjoying being up onstage and being worked and compared to the best because regardless of outcome getting worked up onstage makes me feel like doing the contest was worth my time. I don't feel that this past weekend was worth my time nor did I really enjoy myself during the competition. It was the first time I ever competed and didn't enjoy it. I normally have the time of my life at contests, both onstage and hanging out with other competitors backstage.
As far as your contest goes, you have definately made some improvements over the past few years and I'm really looking forward to seeing the final product. Hopefully I can get some of that thickness you have during this offseason. Keep inspiring me to lift heavy **** and get thicker.
Thanks for all of your support over this prep. I am following your prep as well. Looking forward to seeing the final product.
Thanks for kind words. It really means a lot. Really have learned a lot from you over the past few months. Looking forward to seeing you onstage in a few years because in your most recent pics you are looking pretty thick!
Thanks Paul! I feel there is nothing I can do about what happened this past weekend. We all have contests where we place higher than expected and those we place lower than expected. I've said my peace on how I felt the contest was run as a whole and I'm over it. It is time for a productive offseason and a 2014 pro debut. Speaking of pro debuts, you are definately bringing your best ever package to the stage in your pro debut this year.
Thanks for following along. Unfortunately, I'll tentitively be graduating May 2015 which means that I'll still be in school in 2014 when I make my pro debut. I made it happen this time, I can do it again. Speaking of offseason, I'm going to get a new journal up here soon. I'll link it once I get it up.Peter Fitschen M.S., PhD Candidate in Nutritional Science

You did an amazing job this season, Pete. You put in some serious work and it paid off. Looking forward to your pro debut.
