Yes, it is! Not all women do. I don't. I got a prowler instead of a ring for this Christmas. But I am kind of a weirdo that way.

Fan of shiny rocks here, although not big, gaudy, poor quality ones. I am not so big on big bling . I like the subtle, classy look. I love the fire, brilliance and clarity of diamonds and the way they sparkle. Plus, you can where them with anything from a gown to jeans.

Sonti, with that being said, I probably would choose a prowler over a diamond for Christmas. Your husband rocks .

Some women (humans in general really) will love what they are told and expected to love/desire and will feel an increase of self worth from owning expensive material possessions.

I personally don't care for them, too boring looking. Sapphires and Zircons are much lovelier imo.

Another weirdo here. I asked for a gas fireplace insert instead of an engagement ring. Many better ways to spend money.

I despise diamonds (and the diamond industry), with every fiber of my being. Cubic Zirconia is just as nice IMO, and a lot easier on the pocket.

I don't care either. I'm more about practical gifts. Before I was planning to move my b/f asked what I wanted for Christmas and I said remote start for the truck (I work nights.. sucks getting into a cold truck).. Now that i'm moving I said put a little bit towards my "I need a fridge and stove" fund lol

its because debeers keeps diamonds expensive by withholding the vast majority of them and inflating their price. they are the ones that paid movie stars in the 1910s and 1920s to wear them in their movies. the reality is, its not the diamonds most of the time, its the fact that you are willing to drop that amount of cash on them that makes them feel like you value them highly. well, that and the fact that other women want them...

If someone brought me diamonds, I'd wear them in appreciation for the thought for a while and then I'd just keep them in a box to either sell when I'm really hard up (unless given for some significant reason) or I'd save them to pass down to my future kids.

I love shiny things--but I despise the money behind it. This is why I only wear costume jewelry--it's just as beautiful IMO, even more so because a lot of the pieces are larger, which I prefer.

If someone brought me diamonds, I'd wear them in appreciation for the thought for a while and then I'd just keep them in a box to either sell when I'm really hard up (unless given for some significant reason) or I'd save them to pass down to my future kids.

I've never been into diamonds or any kind of expesive jewerly. I have one small diamond/gold necklace and a wedding band that cost me $50.

I think they're pretty, I like sparkly things. But I am not attached to the idea of myself wearing one and would never expect my man to spend thousands of dollars on one. A fake sparkly would do me just fine.
