Fat guy at 465+ pounds. 6X tee shirts and 4x sweatpants....don't dare put the stuff in the clothes dryer as there is no room for shrinkage. My house looked like a giant's drying rack on laundry days....imagine 6x shirts hanging everywhere while drying.....crazy.
Decided to change my life and began my plan on March 1, 2011.
Check out the sweet man tits:
The ultimate clown.....fat and jolly:
Began by doing the only cardio I could.....walking....or more acurately, limping with a knee brace on.
Joined a series of local gyms in June and began doing the work that I really wanted to do:
I think it took me more courage to walk in there and join than it did to do practically anything I've done. It was evidence to me of how deep I'd fallen into social avoidance in scenerios where I'd be around fit people. Crazy behaviours.....glad I busted through that stupid thinking.

Things progressed nicely. Fat is coming off. Able to finally wear gear made by Under Armour as it only gets up to 3X (at least what I could find). Bought a bunch of it and was proud to be wearing it....finally.
Starting to really feel things develop beneath the fat layers:
Fatceps are coming along slowly but surely:
Getting harder beneath the fat:

Biggest clothing frustration is finding polo shirts that aren't made to hide the arms but show off the fatceps
The bottom line is that I feel so much better and my most important relationship is greatly improved because I'm no longer a grumpy sob. My son is showing strong interest in fitness, too. I'm proud of him and am highly encouraging him to embrace fitness.
I'm loving my short, intermediate and long term goals, too. These will push me to the levels I want to take my fitness.
Short-term: finish out the year hard by dropping another 20 lbs of bodyweight while getting my max benchpress up to 325+ lbs.
Intermediate: 285 lbs bodyweight by September (my 44th birthday) with increased muscle mass and definition.
Long-term: Get on stage in a body building competition when I'm 50 and catch the eye of 35 year old hotties.I may look like Santa Claus.....but I'm feeling like Elvis...........

Your a lot smaller, yet you look bigger; muscled. Great job man, repped, good luck on your goals.
Short cuts to success are often paved with lies.
1/13/16: Massive hernia.
5/10/16: Finally back to lifting, light but improving.

alright now..quit referring to your arms as fatceps....sheesh. Doing really good Dub..you know this is a marathon and not a sprint. It took a long time (for us) to let ourselves get into that kind of shape to begin with...gonna take awhile to get back out of it..I am glad your interest in life and your relationship with your son is getting better. I always referred to those fat and unhappy years as sleep walking thru my own life...easier then dealing with what was making me so fat and depressed.

Thank each of you.
There are many, many great stories 'round here that inspire me each day.
Being able to laugh at things is important in life.....being able to laugh at yourself is VITAL.
I'll giva ya' and example on a small scale. I'm constantly reminded of the fact that I'm new to lifting and a good bit older than most of the dudes around me in the gym. Here's what I mean.....today was chest / tricep training. 7 sets on the bb bench press and then moved over to incline db presses using the next to largest dumbells in this gym (70 lbs). 5 sets here.....then 60lbs db flyes for 4 sets, legs raised in crunch position while I did 4 sets of ez bar skullcrushers, tricep pushdowns using the entire stack, dips to failure and then finished off with standing overhead db extensions with very light weight.
Felt good about my workout. Drained. Could even feel some soreness coming on.
Not a bad workout for a 5 month newbie on a keto diet.
Walk outa there.....nay....I strolled outa there like Joe Badass. Get in the car and pour some cold ice water on my protein powder and begin shaking it vigorously while cranking up the car & getting some tunes playing.
Something feaking pops in my shaking wrist......AGHHHHHH. It's been 30 mins and it's still hurting like a beyotch if I turn it a certain way.
Maybe there is something to the shake weight things after all. No srs......but my wrist is shot for the moment. Gotta find those Advil gelcaps.......dangitman, getting old sucks.
This is the greatest benefit I've had......and didn't even anticipate it.
.
Thanks, I'll keep at this 'till the Good Lord says it's my time to check out.
Thanks. Smaller yes, larger yes. It's a weird paradox. My walk has really changed without my knowledge. A gal I work with pulled me off to the side the other day and complimented me on the progress. She said, I used to feel so bad for you with your knees, now you walk around like an animal on the prowl. I growled at her and we both laughed. We walked by each other later that week and made like two stalking beasts. It must have looked goofy as hell to anyone watching, but I dug it.
Really don't what else to cal 'em. Son snapped this progress pic for me a few minutes ago. I pulled it tight through the fat. Arms are jelly, though, after today's earlier workout.
I'll call 'em "Arms Under Contruction".
I know that you get the zest and passion for life part of it. I enjoy every aspect of it. I like always being sore somewhere vs. the sharp pains of hobbling 'round with the fatness.
Thank's dude. I feel like I'll be able to really do something cool once I burn off this fat and get my abdominal hernia repaired in January.
You nailed it. Proud: yeah, a bit. Satisfied: not untill I get on that stage and compete and place when I'm 50.
That'is a real stretch. You'll see much greater things than a fat 40 something getting things sorted. This forum never ceases to amaze and inspire me with great examples of people doing the MOST.I may look like Santa Claus.....but I'm feeling like Elvis...........

WoW, that's one hell ofa transformation!
Great job man, way to go.
Keep up all the hard work and keep us updated =)"Experiencing this pain in my muscles and aching and going on and on is my challenge. The last three or four reps is what makes the muscles grow. This area of pain divides a champion from someone who is not a champion. That's what most people lack, having the guts to go on and just say they'll go through the pain no matter what happens."
