I have been doing mostly hypertrophy work with isolation exercises in an attempt to bulk up. (I'm currently about 145) I also have been doing one exercise with strength gains in mind with each workout. On these strength exercises, I have been sticking to a 5x5 scheme. I do bench for 5x5 to start off chest day, and then every workout I'll rotate between squats and deadlifts for 5x5. Is this an effective strategy to get both strength and hypertrophy involved in my workout? Or am I wasting my time trying to do both and just stick to hypertrophy? Thanks!

Can't say much without knowing how big you are, how much you can lift, and what your routine actually is, but if you want a mix of 5x5 and isolations, ICF 5x5 is that.
You can't help the hopeless.
