Hit up some ab wheel and get back to at least partial ROM standing. Your front squat will go up.
Yep. Thanks Mike.
Ab Wheel brah.
lol not that much yet, surprisingly my deadlift hasn't gone up that much. My squat has gone up 80+ lbs in less than a year, but it seems that hasn't carried over to my dead strength as much as I would have thought. Time to work on it more.
I never saw myself weighing over 225 or so. I think 220 lean is my ultimate goal.Journal: https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=139898123&page=240

^^^ Hell yeah
Well I was a retard today. I knew I should have called it quits judging by the way 485 felt. But I let my ego get the best of me. I knew 540 would be pushing it too much so I went for 525 and strained my lower back. I don't think I tore anything but we'll see. The problem has been a soreness and tightness issue I have been dealing with for over a month. I need to work on loosening my hips and lower back up and getting rid of the deep soreness. I RUINED my back today and now I'll have to take time off If I had simply waited a few more days and worked on losening everything up 540 would have been a breeze. This whole balancing act and listening to your body thing is so frustrating. It gets so much worse the stronger you get too. The main problem is me sleeping on a crappy bed. I used to sleep on a tempurpedic which was amazing. I don't even wanna think about it.
Deadlifts. Beltless

485x1
525x1(difficult but I had more)
--Fresh 100% I have over 540 no doubt

Few sets nothing worth noting.
Please FFS give me all your advice on how to recover as fast as possible and how to loosen up my entire body. I'm tight, sore and inflexible. Yes Nomz I will get the PVC pipe soon. Thanks for reading everyone.
Also part of the reason may be the uneven ground I lift on too.Last edited by dopamine72; 11-27-2012 at 04:30 PM.

it's all good man. you'll get it rested. I'd take at least a week off from deadlifts before you max out, that's what I normally did in the past. You already did the work, just rest and let the strength and muscles grow and catch up and let the CNS recover. Remeber that the deadlift is the most CNS taxing exercise there is. nice motivation vids man!! 4 of the greatest vids so far from 4 of the world's greatest deadlifters. I'd kill for that strength (not literally kill lol). I would give ab wheel a try in the future, but I'm just easing my way back into core work. I put up my squat vid and one dude suggested that I should do squat walkouts with over my max and that sounds like the best idea since it will get me used to heavier weight and work my core at the same time. Nice Pullup and Dip Superset. That looks like the greatest part of your workout haha (srs cuz both such great exercises). You're doing well man. Also finally got my 225 overhead (push) press I've always wanted.

Thanks Mike. I don't think its anything serious. You're absolutely right.
Thanks bro, indeed and haha not sure if I'll go for a max. I need to get my head on strait and remember to enjoy the journey more. I think my "maxes" will be a 3 rep PR with more in the tank like I have been doing with bench and OHP. Congrats on the PR man. Glad your training is going so well.
Thanks again bro.Journal: https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=139898123&page=240

I fuked up my lower back doing my 3rd set of dead lift singles of 515. It hurt to sit. It hurt to lay, It hurt to breath. It hurt to walk. I was healed in 3 days. If it was real bad you wouldn't be asking us. Also when I was doing the 515 I could tell something was off as everything felt heavy as fuark. If you want you could probably check my journal for it. Many people reassured me they did the same thing. Just rest it and you'll be fine. I honestly didn't do a damn thing but rest and I was fine. Just built a while to rebuild my confidence.
+laying/sleeping with a pillow between my legs helped

I cant really give advice, because i dont take my own lol....but the internet helps...youtube and all. My body said "fuk you *******, heres a curve ball"....if you know what i mean lol.
Take care man, try to make time for those small things in lifting.

Damn that sucks, sorry bout that, bro. I remember Manly being manly and getting over his injury in 3 days lol...which is a possibility. But I also recall a buddy of mine straining his lower back deadlifting and he took 2-3 weeks to get back to squatting with slight pain and about 6 weeks to get back to pulling. If he had avoided squats it probably wouldn't have taken so long but he was impatient. (Now he's dealing with dual hamstring strains...nothing serious but prevents heavy pulling.) If it needs rest, let it rest. Once you are reasonably pain free, start the active recovery: all the stretching and rolling that Mike said. I've heard high rep GMs are good for bloodflow too. I wouldn't do that or the stretching too soon because it might just aggravate the strain.
Good luck man. Stay safe.Planted like a tree beside the river of truth.

Try sleeping on the floor for just one night. Helps take the pressure off certain points of the spine - if those points are your trouble spots it should be a huge help. Wish I had more/better advice for you.

damn dood, sucks to hear. i know that feel all too well, and we've all been there before- fighting that same urge.
couple things, definitely ICE for a few days before any type of heating pad stuff. foam roll the chit out of stiff spots mentioned. deep tissue massage by someone that knows wut the fuk they are doing is always helpful, though can get spendy.

Rest totally for a couple days, then as pain and inflammation goes down get on some good mornings with a bar and just pound out 25+ reps couple sets. Real slow reps. That and some light band pullthroughs.

Appreciate the kind words and advice everyone. Not to sound like a little bitch or anything but knowing there are other lifters out there that can relate and care about me actually makes me feel a little better. So thanks for the support.
Its gonna hurt tomorrow morning but I know its nothing srs. No bruising or anything and judging by feel it will be about a week. I've done this before in other areas and the next 3 days are going to suck the most.
I don't even feel like putting the video up since I know my true max is around 550 now fresh. It makes me feel crappy lol.Journal: https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=139898123&page=240

Sucks about your back, but 525 is a strong ass pull. Sounds like it's not too serious though, so that's good, just rest up and ease back into it.

Sucks about the back big guy. Hopefully it's nothing major. Rest up and put the ice to it!
We all know that feel- you get all amped up for a max attempt and ignore the signs saying "not today".
Strong pulling though!PRs: Back Squat- 410x1 / Front Squat- 320x1/ Bench- 325x1 / Deadlift- 505x1
