I didn't expect him not calling to continue. He was desperate last year to get something going so he made a change. If this is actually his last year where he has to win or he's gone he's not going to leave his fate in the hands of another coach. He wants to prove still he can call plays and the team can win.

I would be very surprised if this didn’t turn out to be a lame duck season for both he and Pace, so it makes sense for him to get more experience for his next job.
And like bullybreed said he’s going to go out on his own shield so I kind of respect it even if I probably won’t enjoy the Bears offense this year.Of all tyrannies a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. -C.S. Lewis

So Justin Fields is the QB of the future.
Didn’t think this was possible. If Pace hadn’t proven to be so incompetent at evaluating QBs I’d be doing cartwheels. Thought he’d be the #2 pick after the NC game but the Bears get him at 11. Love the pick. Love that he was aggressive and they went up to get him. He's a talent we've never seen in this organization at least as long as I've been watching them at that position. They need to go out today and get a tackle hopefully, but I'd be happy with a WR too and get him another playmaker. Fields moves around in the pocket pretty well he's not a statue like Dalton and Foles. The line is still a high priority as they need to focus on protecting him but I wouldn't mind a WR depending on who is there.

I think the priority should be OT, WR, and then CB. Trufant isn’t bad when healthy and the Bears M.O. has been to get a QB and then neglect the offense and focus on building the defense which has obviously not worked.
Plus, there’s a chance Allen Robinson is gone next year and the Bears have reportedly been trying to get rid of Miller.
If they do go CB in the second I hope they’ve traded back and got some more picks.
I know it probably won’t happen but Tevin Jenkins falling to the Bears would be amazing.Of all tyrannies a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. -C.S. Lewis

The Bears traded up for Tevin Jenkins (who a lot of mock draft people had the Bears taking at 20.
I love the way he plays. Here’s a good breakdown of him:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=O1jlLUWjwDo&t=638s
If he’s healthy (there were apparently some medical issues, maybe his hip) he should start on day one. But because of the trade the Bears probably aren’t going to find a WR or DB that can contribute immediately in this draft though.
Still getting Justin Fields and Tevin Jenkins in the same draft is not something I would have thought was possible.Last edited by cheerupemokid; 04-30-2021 at 05:15 PM. Reason: Screwed up the embed somehow

Chicago Bears draft.
QB Justin Fields
OT Teven Jenkins
OT Larry Borom
RB Khalil Herbert
WR Dazz Newsome
CB Thomas Graham Jr.
DT Khyiris Tonga
I think Jenkins will probably be the only player to start immediately (assuming they stick to the plan to bring Fields along slowly like Mahomes). And most of the scouting reports project Borom as someone that will move inside to guard because of his arm length, athleticism, and feet. But he's a big, powerful guy that plays violently like Jenkins, so it's clear there was a change in philosophy on what the Bears want on the line.
Both Herbert and Newsome have returned in college which is probably why they were drafted. PFF rated both the Herbert pick and the Graham jr. pick as elite because of positional value, so they at least got good value. The knock on Newsome is that he's a body catcher (too many drops) and the knock Graham is a lack of elite athleticism and speed but he had a nose for the football and was really disruptive in college. Opting out last year probably didn't help.
Khyiris Tonga benched 225 35 times and has some pass rush ability. But he'll be 25 at the start of the season and is only 6'2 (but over 300 lbs) so he's not the prototypical size.
Considering the lack of picks not a bad draft on paper. What should be one starter immediately, hopefully some depth pieces, and hopefully the franchise QB in 2022 and beyond. Of course, this will only turn out to be a good if Fields becomes the player everyone thinks he can.
Reported UFA's so far:
LB Charles Snowden (some projected him to be a 3rd-4th rounder, so this could turn out to be a steal if they were right)
RB CJ Marable
DT Thomas Schaeffer
DT Sam Kamara
LB Caleb Johnson

I just hope they have a better plan than hoping the college right tackle (that only played a handful of games at left tackle in college) with short arms that everyone projected as a right tackle can become a good NFL left tackle.

Yeah, unfortunately I think we might not have any real clarity on their plans until June at the earliest.
Anyway, the Bears just signed Damiere Byrd: https://mobile.twitter.com/MikeGaraf...050013696?s=20
With him and Goodwin they’ve added a lot of speed at the receiver position.
So getting bigger and more physical on the line and faster at receiver seem to their priorities for upgrading the offense (beyond finding a QB of course) and that doesn’t seem like a bad plan.Of all tyrannies a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. -C.S. Yeah, it’s brutal and I also don’t really see an obvious stretch of games that would be an obvious time to put in Fields for a smooth as possible transition either.
It will be interesting to see the revamped offensive line holds up against the Rams defense. It appears they’re just giving Jenkins the left tackle job, so hopefully he can handle it and he stonewalls Floyd all game.Of all tyrannies a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. -C.S. There isn't gonna be a smooth transition Screech 😆😆😆
LMFAO how is it every post you make is so retarded and autism fueled?
Let the Bears lose 2 games in a row and Screech fans (like yourself) WILL be calling for Dalton's head.
Fields will be in by roughly week 6.

I think it's reasonable.
I fully expect Chicago to have a top 10 or 11 defense.
And The offense WILL be better this year... has to be.
I bet the over of 7 1/2 season wins.
Green Bay, Minnesotta, Detroit..... they can go 3-3 or 4-2 vs. them. and easily snag 4 or 5 more wins along the wayJust trying hard to not be a fat sack-o-chit.
