Must be a record for INTs before halftime.

This team needs Cutler, we see now how depended the bears are on Cutler. Everyone needs to get off Cutlers hate-train and stop appreciating.

But w/ these INTs, that last one hurt so bad.. lukily there was a horsecollar stop at the end of the field or else it woulda been a TD.

Anyone still dumb enough to claim Cutler isn't that good, or not really a loss for the team? I know some people were clamoiring hes not as good as others thought. Well.. you just saw what happens without him.

This game just shows all the haters how great of a QB Cutler is. There is a reason why Bears fans think he is so good. If he wasn't, we wouldn't be talking him up all the time. Yet, no one gives him any credit and they still think he is an average QB.

What Cutler does with this Oline, wide receivers and offensive coordinator is unbelievable. Even most his picks were tipped balls or receivers falling down. He is a great player and we really need him back.

Yup, I remember few weeks into the season people were blaming Cutler for the loses when it was the O-line that were playing like ****.

Tbh, I think Hanie will get better from here. First half he was trying to be too much like Cutler making plays out of nothing and ended up with interceptions. *Crosses fingers*

If Forte wanted more money he would have accepted the initial offers before talks broke off. It's not like the Bears are telling him to F off or he doesn't deserve money at all.

He's slowing down because they were him down by running so much of the offense through him. Trying to pay him like Jamaal Charles was insulting to him.

That is the exact reason you don't give an RB such an ungodly amount of money, so they were right. They can wear down and stop producing very quickly because of that. Waiting until the end of the season was a smart thing on the front office's part.

Also, giving him Charles' money wouldn't necessarily say was insulting. Did you see what Charles was doing since he became a full time RB? Elite numbers.
And then he tore his ACL. The Bears need to save as much money on Forte as possible or we can kiss the idea of a #1 WR this upcoming offseason goodbye.

Forte was responsible for more of his offense than any player in the NFL, that's why he wore down. The Bears had plenty of cap space they could have used to frontload a deal. Forte is the player opposing D's game plan against. Letting him go to get a WR would be a huge mistake. Especially, considering this looks like a good WR class for the draft.

And Charles isn't in Forte's league.

Exactly, so why pay a player that kind of money if that is a position where a player is likely to wear down? It would have been foolish to give Forte what he was demanding earlier in the season. The front office knew that regardless of if they had cap room or not. We don't know exactly what he was demanding, but if we had to guess it was close to Deangelo Williams or Chris Johnson territory. The RB position is not a position to build around one player in today's NFL. There are multi-back systems and the rules are in favor of passing. Giving Forte that kind of deal would handicap them from acquiring a WR (who even if they are a rookie will need an extension at some point) or OL. Waiting for the final numbers at the end of the season as a smart decision. From the business perspective, that is exactly what they should have done especially considering they have all the leverage with the franchise tag and all. The Bears want to pay Forte and want him around. We all do. There is still a business part to the league that has to play itself out before that happens. This goes on between just about all teams and their top players.

As for Jamal Charles, the numbers speak for themselves. He was like a Chris Johnson type player for his time from late in 09 when he got real playing time and then the 2010 season. Forte had a good rookie year, terrible 2nd year, decent last year, and then just blew up the beginning of this year. This is the only year I would say he was truly playing at an "elite" level. The money he gets should not be based solely on this year without taking into consideration the entire body of his career as well as how much longer he will likely continue to produce given the workload he has had in his career already.

Forte literally does everything better. Yeah, you're going to wear out if you're used more than any other player in the entire NFL. And if well over half the offensive plays are running through you, JA's offer was a lowball offer. As for his production career wise, this is the first year the oline hasn't been complete garbage. And Forte still produced, he was the leading reciever on the team. And he's probably legutimately the second best reciever on the team. Imagine how much better Forte's rushing numbers could be if teams feared one of the Bears WR's more than him.

If you're going to build an offense that scares people, you need players that scare opposing teams. Forte is one of those guys. You don't undervalue those guys and let them go. Especially, when you're a gm that has historically been inept at drafting quality offensive players.

In all reality JA would argue that his plan does work. Bears are actually 6th in the league in scoring and although they don't have quality receivers, they can put points up on the board.

JA is good at one thing, that is being cheap. I'm actually surprised how well its working out, but in all reality if we had an organization that is willing to dish out, or at least draft decent picks the bears would have won a few superbowls this decade.

Ja is not cheap at all IMO. He has actually been very smart. The issue in regards to overall talent and investment on offense is not from being cheap. It's that a vast majority of the money is on the defensive side of the ball. I would like to see a comparison with other teams in the NFL in regards to the gap in investment between the two sides of the ball.

Outside of the Charles thing, you are saying the same thing I am. You see it as more of a reason to give him more money. I say hold off and trying to lower the price is the smarter thing for those very reasons. Make the offense more dangerous and take the load off Forte so he can play at a high level for longer. Forking over whatever he wants will keep the Bears in the same position they are now, thus shortening his career and resulting in money not well spent. If they can save a few mil, that will make all the difference in investing in other positions on offense. O line is an area that requires more money that this team needs to invest as well as WR. The Bears need to save as much money on Forte as possible. Showing him that it is not a smart idea to have everything on his shoulders by letting the entire season play out and his numbers to dip as a result is a way to show that and use it as a bargaining chip. Successful teams and offenses do not invest that much into the RB position.

I am not saying the Bears don't need Forte or he should be paid nothing, but we do not know what exactly he is asking for and all we know on the FO part is they offered around 14 mil in guaranteed money before the season started. The Bears need to be smart about how much money is invested to allow for moves this offseason.

As for your part on JA not being able to draft offensive players and developing them, doesn't that go against your suggestion that the Bears should just draft one to save money?

being grossly under the salary cap is a sign of being cheap.

maybe cheap isn't the word. He poorly manages things.

This was the first year of the Bears being a decent amount under the salary cap that I can remember and it was only because they had hoped to get some extensions done that ended up not getting done. Every other year they have spent up to cap and given out significant contracts.

All those extensions you speak of they ended up paying higher for other people to be signed

Adam Schefter reporting Martz is not expected to return next season. I wnoder what they will do in regards to the system? They haven't really been running the traditional Martz offense anyway. I am thinking either they make a run at Norv Turner who runs an Air Coryell like Martz and his brother, Ron (barf) or they bring in Jeremy Bates who was the Denver OC in Cutler's last year who was also a failure in Seattle. No way they make Cutler sompletely change systems again.

Norv is my bet. He isn't that bad of an OC, unlike his bro. A very good one actually, just not a good HC and since Cutler and the receivers spent a year in basically the same system with Ron Turner, it wouldn't be a completely fresh start.
