Yep bears offense is going to suck again next year....
I think the problem is no one wants to work with Nagy and Mitch. A head coach who was an OC for a year is going to pair up with a guy who was OC for the Bengals for a year then got fired. The TE coach and OC didn't have a job that's a glaring sign no one wants to work with the HC and QB. Nagy isn't giving up playcalling and some OC doesn't want to get scapegoated and fired after 1 year if everything fails.

This is how I'm seeing it too. They were asked during the end of year press conference if there would be any changes. Their response was not right now, this thing is just getting started. Queue 2 hours later and the scapegoats are let go, and now Nagy doesn't have to answer questions as to why.
Nobody even knew what Helfrich really did. So why was he fired? The same thing is going to happen with Lazor if the offense bombs out again in 2020.Bears/Bulls/Blackhawks

Well, with Lazor, Marvin Lewis was let go and he was then fired after that. Pretty common for a new head coach not to retain the former staff.
It’s also a pretty regular occurrence for coaches who are let go to have a year off. People are reading too much into it, imo.
One of the biggest problem with the running plays early on was that they were over reliant on misdirection and offensive lineman moving too far. The stuff might have worked in college with the disparity in talent but it was obviously a failure in the pros.
Whether that was Helfrich’s fault or he was just a scapegoat, I don’t know but I don’t think he’d ever coached in the NFL and Heistand had been in the college game for several years.
Everyone he’s hired has a lot of recent NFL experience, both the Oline coach and the TE coach have experience as run game coordinators and Lazor has a history of getting good QB play out of QB’s he’s coached.
The biggest weakness of the offense last season was the run game and the QB being terrible.
The run game improvement will largely depend on what’s done on the offensive line, especially at right guard. But I don’t think the coaches will be a detriment.
I doubt Trubisky is salvageable but a new voice can’t hurt. And Andy Dalton is a potential target for the Bears, so getting a scouting report from someone who coached him could be valuable.
It’s still going to be Nagy’s offense next year and always was going to be. That’s why he was hired. With Helfrich Nagy wanted to go the creative and innovative route. He’s no hired a bunch of established NFL guys that will adopt a more traditional approach, especially in the run game (which seemed to be what everyone wanted) and people are still upset?
I don’t get it, it’s not exciting but it never was going to be because Nagy was never going to completely turn over his offense. And the offense will always be limited by the lack of competence at the QB position.Of all tyrannies a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. -C.S. Lewis

They were reportedly talking about him taking him the job but Fangio fired his offensive coordinator after those talks began.
And any competent coach would rather hitch their wagon to Drew Lock over Mitch Trubisky. Lock only played a couple of games but looked pretty good. Meanwhile, Trubisky repeatedly failed to properly read the defensive end on option plays, frequently didn’t see wide open receivers because he decided where to throw before the snap (this also led to interceptions), failed to look off the safety, has no touch on deep balls, and struggled to accurately throw screen passes.
If you ever find yourself in a GM job, do not trade up for, or draft, a one year starter from a basketball school (because he couldn’t beat out a guy that didn’t make it to the NFL) because you find it endearing he drove his grandma’s hand me down beater. Broncos were 4-1 with Drew lock and Vic is completely proven at what he does on D Nagy isn't. Can't really blame Shurmur.
Thing with Lazar is the bengals offense was ranked 32nd in the league the year he was the Bengals OC. Not a good sign.
Also Brad Childress is gone whatever that means. Not sure what he did.

He was the Bengals offensive coordinator for two years. And I think Dalton got hurt in 2018.
It also doesn’t really matter because the offense will still be Nagy’s and he will still be calling plays. He’s just an experienced NFL coach who was worked in multiple systems and has had some success in getting better play out of QBs he coached.Of all tyrannies a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. -C.S. I think both the Vikings and Bears are headed to the same fate next year. Chopping off the 3-headed dragon. Kirk/Speilman/Zimmer all have 1 year left on their contract, and Nagy/Pace/Mitch have one year of patience left from the FO.
Yup, us farmers sure are poor and stupid. I drive machinery worth more than you'll make in the next decade. Feelsbad.
If I ever need to start making the big bucks I'll be sure to hit you up and see if there's an opening so I can work alongside you at the mall food court.

If the season doesn’t go well and it’s largely due to Trubisky continuing to not have it, I could see them getting rid of Pace and Trubisky but leaving Nagy’s fate up to the next GM.
It’s not just the Trubisky botch. Kevin White was also a bust. Leonard Floyd is an okay player but doesn’t get sacks. I think he had 3 sacks last year and is going to be making 13 million next year. Wasted a second round pick on Shaheen, traded up for Miller who has not been worth the extra picks so far.
And in free agency he hasn’t done so well. Sims was a waste of money at TE, Burton has never produced like he’s paid, and there apparently was no depth at RG after Long went down and the lineman he extended regressed after getting paid.
The Bears have a tight cap situation with a number of glaring holes and not a lot draft picks because of poor free agency decisions and mismanaging drafts. I would think that he’s on the thinnest ice of all. He not only passed on a first round talent that won a National Championship but traded up for a different guy that has been a colossal disappointment. If you go all in on someone like that I don’t think you should get another crack at it.
But the McCaskey’s do weird things. No idea why they hired Phil Emery, for instance. So who knows.
Anyway, came across this and it might help walk some people off the ledge:
The marriage of Bill Lazor and the Bears will be interesting—Lazor’s known for simplifying scheme for players, weaponizing tempo and finding a way to get guys playing fast. With a quarterback, in Mitch Trubisky, who often seems to think too much on the field, injecting that influence into Matt Nagy’s offense could be a godsend. (Breer, Albert. According to Adam Schefter, John Defilipo has been hired as the Bears QB coach while Dave Ragone has been promoted to passing game coordinator.
DeFillipo had great success with Wentz and Foles. And if you believe the Bears about Heistand and Helfrich being the running game coordinators, it appears Nagy is delegating some responsibility and will presumably focus on the whole offense rather that just the passing game. Which might be good but I thought schematically the pass plays were the best designed, so that will be interesting.

More delusions from an autist who can't understand that his fantasies don't translate to reality.
You're over there making up retarded hypotheticals to support your stances, brought on by too much estrogen.
Stop being an idiot and look at the situation for what it is: There are 0 QB's available who could make the offense work.
Bottom line Timmy.
Mitch is here to stay, acceptance is the first step Timmy.

Bears signed Roberson. It makes me think they are going to cut Prince.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Roberson was considered the top CFL free agent this year and chose the Bears over offers from nine other NFL teams. Schefter also reported that the Bears are expected to give Roberson the most lucrative CFL-to-NFL contract since the Miami Dolphins signed pass rusher Cameron Wake in 2009.Razorbacks/Bears/Cubs/Bulls
