It’s conditional, so it could be a fifth if he plays well.
It’s not that surprising in my opinion, his cap hit would have been 2 million this year (it was 700K last year) and if it’s obvious to us he doesn’t fit Nagy’s offense, other teams know it too. So they didn’t have any leverage. Plus, running back isn’t an in demand position anymore since so many rookies come in and play well every year.Of all tyrannies a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. -C.S. Agree with all of this. I'll trust Nagy with what he wants to do with his RBs. He inherited Howard and tried him out. Now he wants to move on. I would still expect them to draft a RB this year. Mike Davis probably gets the best shot at the starting job this year and I'm also okay with that. Just let it play out and see what happens. This offense doesn't need a 1,000 yard pounding back. They are going to be rotated, it's just what it is. I could care less who is back there as long as they are productive when they are out there and the Bears are winning games.

With the draft coming up this week any predictions on who Bears could go after? Looks like most places see us drafting a RB.

I don't think they draft another TE. They have 3 on the roster currently. I could see them adding one or 2 for camp after the draft but I don't think they waste a pick on a TE. Depending on how RBs fall I believe that will be the route they go, if not possible another edge or CB.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they drafted someone like Trevon Wesco, a TE that was also used as a half back. Nagy likes players with positional versatility and TE is an important position in the offense, and only one guy on the roster has proven to be reliably good. Hopefully, Shaheen will break out but I don’t think they can count on that happening.

The Bears traded up in the third round for RB David Montgomery:
He doesn’t appear to have break away speed but looks hard to bring down, kind of reminds me of Howard. Very stupid to trade up, imo. Pace is getting too cute with all of the trading up.Of all tyrannies a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. -C.S. Lewis

The rest of the Bears draft:
6th round: Duke Shelley, DB Kansas State
https://mobile.twitter.com/ChicagoBe...45761050324996
7th: Kerrith Whyte, RB FAU
https://mobile.twitter.com/ChicagoBe...53480004075522
7th: Stephen Denmark, DB Valdosta State
https://mobile.twitter.com/ChicagoBe...64965472227330
Whyte is really fast (4:38) and it looks like he has a good chance to compete for the returner spot.
