All *******s saying australia is beta for banning branding etc. and people should be able to make their own choices, yall are mad.
- Australia is the most alpha country for doing this
- No rational person should smoke in the first place
- govt. is the one who has to look after all the *******s in the hospital and spend ****loads on healthcare due to smoking related problems.
- Due to this, we all pay higher taxes to cover for healthcare.
- I hate it when a ******* is smoking in front of me and forces me to passively inhale the garbage.
In my opinion this is one of the best decisions Australian Government has made in a long time. Not only it will save lives and decrease the overall healthcare costs, but it will improve the general environment in regards to pollution and passive smoking in the community.
yall mad smokin *******s.

Holy ****, Australia banned cigarettes? Alpha as ****!
edit: saw what they did. Still alpha as phuck. Nothing but pussies and whiney bitches stateside. Supposedly they're going to get similar covers in a year or two here, but it'll be more like an ad that comes in the packaging than removing the branding all together, which I love.

-smokers pay tax in their cigarettes
-how do you know that all these *******s that smoke didn't hold higher paid jobs than you and subsequently paid more taxes than you, therefore, all the dumb fuks who work any low paid job should also not get healthcare
-personal freedoms and all that
-smoking should be banned in public because it can bother others but at home i cant see why
How you gonna feel if they start limiting the speed on your sports car to that of the national speed limit?
How about you get shown a vid on liver problems every time you buy a beer?
How would you feel if your pizza was delivered buy a overweight guy who lectures you on the dangers of eating too much pizza?
And to that ******* above that claims Switzerland is alpha lol wut? After living there for a year i could see its not alpha at all.
Shouldnt you aussies be more worried about your water supply?

who cares if people smoke? if they want to kill themselves let them. smokers don't tell you what to do, why do you think you can control peoples free will. and making it illegal? its not like it has any harmful effects like meth or crack. people aren't going to smoke a cig then go kill something cause there rocking some crazy high. i love america

I do not agree OP...
You control nothing in this world except yourself
Every time you give an entity power to control an aspect of your life you lose a little piece of the only thing you control
The items that you control directly correlate to the amount of freedom you have
The ONLY exception to this rule is the freedoms that you enjoy that encroach on other peoples freedoms/rights
Another words if Australia wants to ban smoking in public places and around others that is fine
To totally ban smoking is against a humans free will and is completely the opposite of alpha...
No not a smoker. But if you listen real close, you can hear them whisper their legacy to you. Go on, lean in. Listen, you hear it? - - Carpe - - hear it? - - Carpe, carpe Landīca, seize IT boys, make your lives extraordinary.

lol @ thinking that the "freedom" is about riding bikes or smoking.. srsly u dont know the meaning of freedom. Only *******s who are gonna complain about freedom and all the bs are the ones that are hardcore smokers who live to smoke and have nothing better to do in their lives.
srsly though, i would support the government if they took drastic measures in regards to obesity, alcohol or any other major issue control which is sending this country down the gutter. I don't smoke, neither am I obese and I hardly ever drink alcohol.
Also not a single fuk would be given if some fastfood resturants like mcdonalds etc. got closed down.

You know how much money the government would waste in trying to catch people smoking in public? Police has other things to do rather than catching people and fining them for smoking in public. The point here is not to stop people smoking in public, because that would still produce the same end result, i.e. smoking health related problems in the long run. Doesnt matter where you smoke, inside or outside, you are still ****ing your body in the long run.
The overall aim here is to reduce health related costs, which can only be done ultimately if smoking becomes illegal in the entire country and is extremely hard to obtain illegally as well. Though this non-branding should discourage some people to stop smoking or smoke less etc., I think the end result of all this should still be an overall ban on smoking alltogether.

The government would waste exactly the same amount of money catching public smokers as they do on people streaking nude in public. 99% of the laws are self regulating and that is what makes up the fabric of society. You are always going to have the one of criminal who chooses to go against public law but then again you have that with every law.But if you listen real close, you can hear them whisper their legacy to you. Go on, lean in. Listen, you hear it? - - Carpe - - hear it? - - Carpe, carpe Landīca, seize IT boys, make your lives extraordinary.

thats actually the kind of government regulating I agree with... it's not that they're being a 'nanny state' really, it's more of just a warning like 'go ahead and smoke, but just remember it can cause this'. I would not agree with a total ban though.
Canada is doing something similar, not sure when it will actually start though. They're about to dedicate 75% or so of the packaging to the warnings..right now it's around 50%. like this;

smoking (which is likely to be done by millions of people) to streaking (which is extremely rare and only done for bets or on sporting events in australia) is not a good comparison. Of course all those things cost govt. money, but you cant eliminate everything bad at once, and this is just one step at a time process. Today smoking has passed through senate to be unbranded, I hope tomorrow fast food is banned for people over a certain weight and I would fully support it.
