How fast could someone go from 20% to 10% body fat?

Start weight 175 at 20% how long would it take someone to get down to 10% body fat. I guess I am looking for the fastest route as well as the smartest route. This information is not for me it is for a friend of mine. He is not interested in being really big and strong he just wants to be cut, I guess he doesn't care and likes the cross country runner build. I told him just do a bunch of PSMF cuts with proper refeeds and he could be at that goal in 3 months. Is that bad advice or would that work?

It's doable in 3 months, but will be really tough, and may sacrifice some muscle to do so.

Just take your time with it. There's no reason to rush it. The faster you cut the faster you'll gain it back in most cases. I need to start preaching more about set point theory.

Imagine you throw a ball at a wall, the ball will bounce back but if you slowly roll it into the wall the ball won't fly right back at you. Think of your body in a similar manner, odds of staying lean are much better if you take more time to get there as opposed to a fast, strict cut.
"Everyone thinks they're on their way to single digit body fat as soon as they see a blurry four-pack in the right lighting.Your final body weight at 5-6% will be a lot less than what you think.Talk to me again when you get in contest shape." I'd be willing to say that 95% of people on this forum accomplish nothing in years, don't be one of those people. It's sad, they seem to have the knowledge many don't but can't utilize it.

i exp this once or twice myself over the past 2 years. cutting to hard led to some binges which set me back. at the same time i believe in taking some time and enjoying urself now and then if ur meeting goals.

this time around i slowly been dropping cals with a meal or 2 a week of something i like and so far i am enjoying the progress.

OP, also note im no where near 10% so dont know how it goes when this low but as i get closer to it its getting harder. at 20%...oh so easy! lol
Used to be fat, now just fat with a lot of muscle.

I think it depends on the discipline of your friend... I did an extremely strict/fast cut and never bounced back, because I refused to let myself binge and never cheated....if he did it that way he could do it in 3 months. BUT if you think he will bounce back...better to go slow and do it in 6

This is the reason I've broken my old habits of going strict as Fuuu, I've been taking my sweet azz time to lean out this time around. Before I'd get into the single digits fast and while I would be in the single digits the majority of the year there were times I did fatten up. As of right now I'd have to say that I'm at my biggest and leanest but I've been patient and it does seem like I took the long road to get to this point but really it's shorter if I don't fatten up again when I get as lean as I'd like to be.
