    wtf is happening at elitefts???

    http://articles.elitefts.com/article...tion-training/

"Preview from the author’s upcoming book. Christian’s work can be found at www.Testosterone.net
We will now discuss a special form of strength training that I call
“kinetic energy accumulation training” (or KEAT). It involves training
methods in which there is an important kinetic energy build-up during
the yielding phase of a movement and the consequent use of this energy
to potentiate the overcoming portion of the exercise. This type of
training has been known under various names: shock training (in Russian
literature), plyometrics (by Western coaches) and powermetrics (a more
recent term by Dr. Mel Siff).
I’d rather use the denomination kinetic energy accumulation training as
it explains the nature and the reason for effectiveness of this type of
exercise. Namely, by increasing the amount of kinetic energy produced
during the yielding phase, and transferred into the execution of the
overcoming phase, you increase power and force production and you
improve the neural, reflex and muscular factors involved in force
    production."
wtf???? I usually go there when I have a few minutes spare and want to read something interesting, but lately...

He's talking about how to prepare or warm-up prior to a movement or exercise. Psychological considerations are motor imagery, visualization and concentration. Physically you're looking to warm up the sensory receptors. The article is probably about some technique he developed.

That's not what the article is talking about at all. Its talking about the use of plyometrics to train reactive strength and how they should be incorporated into one's program.

Warm up your sensory receptors? Why would you want to warm up your sensory receptors before you performed an exercise? Also, once you begin using your sensory receptors they continually become less and less effective until they go through a period of time with no stimulation so there isn't really any way to "warm them up". He's talking about the quick squat before you perform a box jump; plyometric training with a myotatic reflex response.

I wrote a short piece on the conjugate method a few weeks back. My friends said I should have it published on EFS. I responded by telling my friends that the last thing EFS needs is another retard amateur like myself putting more garbage on that site. I remember when the articles were good. Way back before the new site design.

Does anyone know what actually is going on over there?

The thibedeau guy can't have paid that much money to elitefts for the advertisement that they're willing to sacrifice their credibility. They even kinda acknowledge the bullsihtedness to the article by disabling comments...wtf?

Elite Fitness is a business, broheems.

I know all of you know that, but Tate has been expanding for years. He'll always have a sweet spot for powerlifters and our community, but to make his business grow he's had to pick up a bunch of different equipment/supplements/products/articles/athletes, etc. It doesn't make it any less frustrating, but it's just part of life. Tate is worth a LOT of money now, and to keep that up, he has to start catering to the masses.

A lot of the articles you'll see are guys trying to be the next big _________ (insert some kind of niche) in the 'fitness' community. If you get a few articles published at Elite, now said person is a 'published author' even though it's obvious they're rehashing something that's been said ten times over.

T-Nation put out some trap article recently and in the first sentence or two said heavy barbell shrugs aren't the way to build big traps. Uhhhhh... Then the author had a bunch of ridiculous exercises with some guys that had ZERO traps in the example videos/pics. No one will argue that variation can help build muscle, but one can't reinvent the wheel.

The internet has destroyed powerlifting. Plain and simple.

This is true, but only 'proper' lifters actually will bother buying from elitefts...everyone else will buy the cheap stuff from a cheap maker, e.g., £700 elitefts rack compared with a £100 rack. If he's trying to appeal to the masses he's gonna alienate a lot of lifters that would've actually bought from the site.

the masses, on the whole, aren't purchasing racks and such. they buy bands, boards, sleds, clothing, etc. dave tate is a smart man, he knows what he's doing.

    ^ this.

I don't know the exact cost on the Elite bands, but I doubt it's over a dollar. A Prowler for almost $500 shipped?? He won't lose business from us as lifters as our options are extremely limited for equipment sales. He has that on lockdown. He wants to make more, and I can't blame him.

I agree on the notion that "you cant blame him". he is a businessman after all and a very smart one at that. he has turned his site into a money making machine and he has to keep that ball rolling. I do wish there was another way though, but hey, business is just that, business.

Am I the only one who noticed that this was an EFS Classic article, not a new one, meaning that it was written around 2004-2005?
