I mean seriously, COD wants to be a yearly franchise but where the hell else do they go from here? There has to be a point in time where oversaturation takes effect and people lose interest. I'm going to go out on a whim and say it starts here. A lot of people will still buy the game, but the lack of new innovation will change the attitude of gamers going into the next COD game. What do you guys think?

This.
I bought black ops and played it for a month, never touched the game again. Not really looking forward to MW3 that much, except for the story(I'm a campaign type of guy).
I do play a lot of multi player, I played the sh** out of MW2.
But for some reason my interest in FPS shooters has gone way down. I am actually thinking about picking up Gears 3 and thats about it.{Oakland Raiders} {Chicago Blackhawks}

Except Inifinity ward only exists in name now, they arent the same group that made MW and MW2 . The head guy of Infinity ward and a **** ton of his people left after the fiasco from MW2...basically Activision being the greedy whores they are didnt pay out royalties to Infinity ward like promised. The court case is still ongoing... So the chances of MW3 being any good are pretty slim, its going to be more along the lines of a Treyarch game..which is to say total ****.
Heres the wiki
Dismissal of senior employees
On March 1, 2010, Activision amended its report with the Securities and Exchange Commission to add notification that two senior employees of Infinity Ward were being fired due to "breaches of contract and insubordination". This coincided with Jason West (Infinity Ward president, game director, co-CCO, and CTO) and Vince Zampella (CEO and co-founder of Infinity Ward) editing their profiles on the website LinkedIn to list Infinity Ward as a former employer as of March 2010. Reportedly, a meeting between Zampella, West, and Activision staff occurred on March 1, after which neither Zampella nor West were seen; this was followed by the arrival of security guards at the studio.[27][28] It was later confirmed by Activision that West and Zampella had been dismissed, and had been replaced on an interim basis by Activision CTO Steve Pearce and head of production Steve Ackrich.[29]
Activision CEO Bobby Kotick addressed Infinity Ward studio heads on March 2, 2010 about Zampella and West's dismissal. A second meeting was held with all of Infinity Ward's employees on hand. The outcomes of those meetings are currently unknown,[30] but Activision has explained that Infinity Ward is still "central" to the future of the Call of Duty franchise. Activision has created a new studio, Sledgehammer Games, to create an "action-adventure" installment of the Call of Duty franchise. However, Activision halted the production of the action-adventure game which was reportedly 2-3 months into production and requested Sledgehammer Games to work side-by-side with Infinity Ward to make Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 instead.[31]
[edit] Further departures
Following West and Zampella's firings, nearly half of the remaining Infinity Ward employees resigned. Throughout April and May 2010, 46 employees, among them lead designers and programmers who worked on Modern Warfare 2, abruptly left Infinity Ward. All have so far declined to comment on their reasons for leaving.[32]
Infinity Ward Employee Group v. Activision
On April 27, 2010, 38 current and former employees of Infinity Ward brought a lawsuit against Activision. Calling themselves the "Infinity Ward Employee Group" (IWEG), the plaintiffs seek between $75 million and $125 million in compensatory damages from Activision for unpaid bonuses for work on Modern Warfare 2. The lawsuit alleges that Activision withheld compensation from the plaintiffs in order to force them to stay with the studio and develop Modern Warfare 3.[39] In addition, the plaintiffs are also seeking between $75 million and $500 million in punitive damages.[40] The trial date for this case was revealed on July 9, 2010 to be scheduled for May 23, 2011.[41]Join KIVA - Donate to those in need around the world! call of duty has been a victim of it's own success. cod4 was well ahead of its time, was such a great game and is still probably the most balanced FPS around, even if it is 4 years old. world at war couldnt match it, mw2 helped bad players too much, black ops was just bad all round.
i see MW3 being more like a "Greatist Hits" of the series. Taking all the good points from each game, getting rid of the crap stuff, in hope to find balance.pics are always required, spoon proof always preferred. spoon pics get reps

I'm not even going to get MW3, I'm getting BF3 and Skyrim. Just going to borrow MW3 from a friend just to finish the campaign.
MW3 is pretty much MW2: Source. Everything probably looks a little better and little things are fixed, but still essentially the same game. I don't see any major changes until the next generation of consoles rolls around because with MW3/BF3/Skyrim, I feel as if we've pretty much reached the ceiling of potential for the PS3/360*Misc Photography Crew*

I hope your joking. No game has come close to maximizing the ps3's power.
On topic. Black ops was a terrible game. I played it for 10 hours and then didnt play it again for 10 months. Played it for 5 more hours then stopped again because I realized it still ****ing sucked.
MW2 was an awesome game. I played that game for a long ass time and had a great time doing it. Of course there were flaws in it but it was a good game.
I'm going to pick up MW3 and BF3 when they drop. This will be the first battlefield I buy for a system. I played bfbc2 at my cousins and the game was absolute **** imo. So I'll see how I like bf3. From the vids I've seen it looks badass so I'm hoping it lives up to the potential I feel it has.
MW3 looks like a clone copy of MW2 with some upgrades. So as long as there aren't any game breaking perks/killstreaks/class setups then it should be good.

I own every single CoD game, and started buying them as they released after the second game came out, and this will be the first CoD that I won't buy. BFBC2 made me realize how good their franchise/series is.
I noticed that a lot of people hate BFBC2 when they only tried it once/a few times. I think (from my own experience, too), that it takes time to get into the game, and when you actually get good at it and understand the maps it can become a VERY fun game.I rep back

To me, the game felt very clunky. The movement wasn't fluid at all imo compared to COD's movement. The destructible environment is cool, but the maps are way to big and takes way to long to actually find people to kill. I'm more of a smaller maps, more action kind of person. I played CS for a long time and CODs map sized is comparable to that. I like run and gunning, but you still have the option of playing slow and strategical in COD if that's what you preferred.
MW2 would of been perfect if they took out, noob tubes/oma/30ft knife lunges with that bull**** perk/and I'm sure I could list a couple more things if I remembered them. I haven't played mw2 for well over a year probably much longer so I've forgotten all the things that I thought were game breaking.
Had they listened to the community and fixed the things that everyone agreed were game breaking after we all had time to play the game and learn the ins and out, it would of 100% been perfect.

I doubt it will ever die out it's like Madden little changes each year but nothing huge but keeps people coming back.Still I love it and pre ordered MW3 I wouldn't mind another fps to come along and compete with it.I don't really consider Battlefield 3 competition because there way to different.Call Of Duty is a twitch shooter, and Battlefield is team oriented and tactical.I like both but don't really have the patience for Battlefield.
Now I move with aggression, use my mind as a weapon.
Cause chances are never given, they tooken like interceptions.
I'll get back any green.

No duh it's old. It came out 5 years ago. Doesn't mean it's been pushed to its maximum potential. Considering games continue to come out with better and better graphics still, idk how you can say it's been used up.
Of course when the next gen console comes out we should see large strides in terms of graphics compared to current gen but to say that we've hit the peak of a ps3's current potential is dumb. We are close, but we haven't hit it yet.
