i was just reading Ironman's Ultimate Guide to Bodybuilding Nutrition, and there's a chapter there that talks about high fat/low carb diet and how you can get massively muscular and shredded to the bone by following it.
what it says is, you go thru 2 phases, first phase in the week, first 5 days is a carb depletion where you go no more than 30g or carbs a day while you get 55 to 75% of your calories from fat, and 25 to 45% of your calories from protein. and you go in a state that's called ketosis.
Second phase, the weekend, 2 days where you load carbs like crazy, 60% of your calories from carbs, 20% fat, 20% proteins. at this phase, you pretty much eat whatever you want.
Now that got me so confused, how can you go for 5 days without having carbs or having only 30g of carbs? Damn what am i supposed to eat to avoid the carbs? And does this really work or just some bull crap in this book?
