That we would decline from being the position of world hegemon is the natural way of things, USA will decline from its position eventually and another country will take over (not for at least 25years though).
UK is still one of the best places in the world with a high standard of living. Yes its not the best anymore and yes it has problems but show me a country that doesnt

You must be joking.
I read somewhere how the Conservative party is now capping immigration, trying to eliminate the benefit scroungers, trying to limit the debt, allowing small buisnesses to expand and less regulations, creating more jobs for younger ppl.
Any socialist party is scum and should be banned all together. They ruin society by allowing citizens to have this mind blowing "entitlement" mentality. That's why all the scum on welfare vote for socialist parties... i.e. Labour.

I wouldn't call 30 years in the public sector as easy work. My job in a large corporation is much easier than my mother-in-laws job as a nurse but I earn more than her and will have a larger pension.
Private sector companies are not blameless in the demise of private sector pensions. They built up surpluses in their final salary schemes when the markets were booming in the 1980's but instead of saving this surplus for a rainy day (like the public sector did) they used it to off set their employee contributions and corporation tax. Final salary schemes work a lot like with-profit policies, the costs are covered by everyone that pays into the scheme, be it a doctor earning £120,000 or a receptionist earning £14,000.Weak in the gym, weak in the kitchen.

Britain allowed for easy running immigration at the time because they didn't realise what a state eastern europe was (it was the cold war remember), and when Britain passed the immigration acts and whatnot, immigrants walked through heathrow and off the docks in london and whatever and took up residency. Thats why if you look into it, the roots of 1 or 2 generations or even 3 might come from this country even if they are originally polish, slovakian, czech or whatever, Britain didn't know how many people would desire to live there, because they had never experienced such a mess of the economy going up and down all the time, and if i'm honest, it had more problems to worry about than a few poles coming in every day, and the fact that the current immigrants spoke well of Britain and how good it was to their families back home, who then came along.

This mofo is the only one who has an understanding of his homelands issues. Best line that sums it up? Weve become to soft. Political Correctness has killed so many countries and people are just to damn selfish to care anymore, right now everyone is fighting to maintain their piece of the dream while others come in just mooch it. What happens? People just watch as others steal and get ahead instead of standing up for the hard working people.

The Romans were the most dominant empire in the world at one point, they don't seem to care too much about recapturing past glories. If they're willing to work, where is the problem? It would probably look like a decline if I couldn't go to university because I couldn't afford the $40,000 dollars they chargeper year, or if I got cancer and then had to work two jobs to pay for the treatment, for example.

In regards to the empire, none of us were around when the empire was at its peak. Also, I don't particularly think that taking control of other peoples countries for personal profit is a good thing. Any British person that gets teary eyed over the British Empire is an idiot. Your ancestors would have been working up someone's chimney. It was a completely aristocratic and horrible society to live in (still better than most of the world though).
I am very proud of the British armed forces today. Considering the UK's size, we have on of the best militaries in the world. Although the size of our forces pales in comparison to the US (and will eventually be completely eclipsed by nations like China and India) it allows us to put more spending into our special forces. This is why Britain has one of, if not the best intelligence service (SIS/Mi6) and special operative forces (SAS/SBS) in the world. The UK public should feel extremely proud of our military today. I am disgusted by what the current government is doing to our Navy though.
Immigration is the one thing that has disgusted me more than anything else in modern Britain. It has eroded a large part of the British identity and patriotism. Entire areas have been colonised by third world people and such culture has been installed there. I do not hate Muslims, but I hate the religion of Islam with a passion. It's alien to our Western culture and parts of London, Birmingham, Bradford and other places have been utterly destroyed by this mass immigration. These were all industrial towns that had their own culture and identity that have been changed beyond recognition. The policy of multiculturalism, specifically under Tony Blair has meant there has been 0 incentive for these immigrants to try and integrate into our society. It hurts me a lot to think of all the men and women of East London that underwent that vicious bombing campaign during WW2, in defiance of seeing our country invaded. Now the streets they used to live on are paved with mosques and run by Muslim gangs. It's terrible.
I don't like firearms and most Brits never possessed them when they were legal anyway. Britain was once an EXTREMELY safe country. It still is in many parts. But over the past 13 years or so it has got so bad that I fully advocate the right for the British public to bear arms. This is what happens when you open the gates to mass immigration from war torn, poverty stricken countries. They bring a ****load of criminals.
Unlike what most of you teenage American morons think, a military is not what makes a country. A culture, our values, our society is what makes up our country. There has been such a decline in the average citizens duty toward his/her country over recent years. There's no ****ing manners, nobody reads a book, there's a severe problem with binge drinking, we hardly make anything...it's a very depressing state of affairs. Gang/drug culture is so rabid amongst the youths in this country that you're facing bother just going down to your local shops in some areas.
I would like to stay here and watch Britain revert back to its old ways but I do not see it ever happening. There's a reason everybody's moving out. There's no way I would want to raise a family here. Looks like it's going to be Canada/Aus/NZ for me.The GEEZAAAAAAAA

It is impossible to put a cap on immigration because people can move pretty much freely between EU countries.
Labour aren't socialist, they are left of centre but can be pretty far to the right on certain issues. To my knowledge there has never been a government in the UK you could consider socialist.
There is no doubt the welfare system has some major leaks but I would still like my taxes to go towards the benefits of someone who can't work because of an illness, or to go towards the child tax credits of a family that are struggling to keep their heads above water but have to pay for expensive child care because both parents are working.Weak in the gym, weak in the kitchen.

It's not, but the reason we can't do anything about it is because ****ing idiots like you equate being against mass immigration as being racist/stupid.
Ask any ****ing white man living in an Asian-Muslim area if it's any fun. IT'S NOT. Same goes for living in an Afro-Carribean area. They're all ****holes. Some white areas in this country are just as deprived (Toxteth etc) but we still have a huge immigration problem here. The GEEZAAAAAAAA

Mate I feel sorry for you, whilst I totally agree that multiculturalism is failure, you are living in a dream world thinking that Islam has any real power in this country..... This is half the problem with this country. The general population is too ignorant and has a too simplistic view on an opinion that is being force fed to them constantly through the media. Half of the population reads the Sun and the now defunct News of the World, they can wade through pages of tabloid celeb stories and not believe it, but put 15 or so fundamentalist Muslims in front of a home coming parade and the whole country begins to believe that Islam has too much power. I hear on a daily basis people judging others unfairly because of their employment status, FFS it even goes as far as saying that should a disabled person try to have some quality of life and do something fun, people will be quick to label them a benefit cheat.
Food for thought. Benefit fraud costs this country an estimated 1 billion a year.
Corporate tax evasion costs the UK an estimated 15 billion a year, some would suggest that the true figure rests much higher and possibly closer to 100 billion.
Benefit fraud is a massive national issue, whilst the tax evasion is just swept under the carpet.

Muslim son of Pakistani immigrants checking in. I ****ing love England, but yes, we can't just be handing benefits over to anyone, the death of overtime and the lack of jobs everywhere is killing everyone's chances of being able to start work at 16 and put in some real sweat and then live a comfortable middle class life like so many of our parents did before us.

Its like reading an article from the Sun newspaper, which is truly only useful for wiping one's arse on. The population in general is Stupid and easily manipulated. Whatever they see on TV or read in the daily rag they believe. Ignorance is king in the UK. So much of the population think they know how to think for themselves but they are wrong, they are given their opinion, its rammed down their throats daily. You tell them but they don't want to know, they are too stupid.

Dude our country is ****ed
Mum's dad, grandad, uncle, cousins, brother, great uncles, you name it served in the army or navy - many died serving the country (similar to many people's families). Now she is an older mother and doesn't have anyone supporting her (my dad had affair, wasn't married so kinda ****ed her over big time) no pension and has rheumatoid arthritis so cannot work as hard or as much as she wants without being in agony and basically has f all money- had to sell her house, supporting me after my dad has kinda stopped (dad is rich as well) but you'd think you know, the government would help her out? seen as her family has served the country, lost lives due to the wars- heck her dad got like multiple military medals for bravery and stuff. (this next bit doesn't apply to all, however) Now there are immigrants coming in, getting all this support off the government, not paying taxes etc and there families did F all for the country
It's outrageous if you ask me
In b4 'racist' I just think that the country should support the legacies and families of the people that supported it~Misc BJJ crew~

Except it's not, because I never read The Sun.
As are you, to equate somebody who has concerns about mass immigration, living in an area that has suffered at the hands of mass immigration, to somebody that reads The Sun/Daily Mail.
My views are not in any way different to Richard Dawkins or Christopher Hitchens regarding Islam (who if anything are the people that have mostly influenced my views, as well as personal observation).
So how about you shut the **** up and stop making assumptions. Idiot. The GEEZAAAAAAAA

I grew up in an area that had a large mix of ethnic groups and there was definitely tension. Personally though I put this down to the conditions people lived in. Money was scarce, there weren't any jobs, one of the biggest employees in the city have just closed down.
Multiculturalism works great when people have money. There needs to be more to encourage integration, we need better inner city schools and a government that can promote jobs and a sense of work ethic again.Weak in the gym, weak in the kitchen.
