There are bench only, and "night of the living deadlift" and even push pull meets but what about squat only meets? Are there squat specialists or do all squatters just do everything?

Anyone manly enough to squat is going to do a full meet.

I used to always say they should have squat only meets. But basically any meet can be a squat only meet if you just wanna squat. Just do your squat than take a token bench and dead.
But if I'm gonna squat at a meet, I might as well bench and then pull something off the floor and get a total.
Not sure if there really are squat specialists, if there was I might be one since thats all I really care about, but basically if you squat, you do the other 2.Crom Laughs....
So, how long are you gonna keep powerlifting?

The only time I think the arch is retarded is in feds that don't require the foot to be flat on the ground, and as a result you see sh*t like this:
There is another video I can't find right now with a female powerlifter who's arch is completely ridiculous...between that and her wide grip the ROM was cut to about 4 inches. I think stuff like that is just as bad as a high squat.

I know the vid, it was posted a few weeks ago. That crap is retarded. I started working on my arch because it helps me stay tight and get my lats more involved. I'm a big guy and I physically won't be able to arch to a ridiculous degree. Just wanted to see what the over all feeling was behind it.

I think the reason people like to do bench only and push-pulls and the like is 1) because they are too lazy to do all three lifts, and 2) because they want to see what they can pull/bench without having to do heavy squats beforehand. A heavy squat takes a lot out of my bench, and a little bit out of my deadlift. Because of this at a meet like NOTLD, most of those guys will probably pull bigger numbers than they do in full meets.
With squats, there isn't this problem. It's the first lift, so it's not like you'd be able to squat more if you didn't have to do a full meet.637/390tng/615 - belt/wraps, best gym lifts.

There aren't squat only meets because squat is the hardest lift, and takes a lot more time and skill to develop....Squat is my best lift currently, but starting out it was by far my worst.... I don't think you'd find many examples of someone with a good bench or deadlift, that started out proportionately **** at them.

I've never seen squat only in WA, however there are heaps of meets where you can do a single lift
