decided to shave chest.....diditwrong

ive never really been hairy, but since ive started working out..or just from getting older? my chest hair is taking over. so i decided to shave it. went as expected until the next day, i woke up with razor burn like a sumbitch.
i did shave against the grain, which i do on my face and have never had a problem.
any advice?

Your face is use to it. If you have little ingrown hairs use a wash cloth or soft brush in the shower to get the hairs out from under the skin/scabs/rash by scrubbing the area good.

I was just having a conversation with a buddy about this. He had some surgery (new kidney) and they shaved his whole torso. For some reason, they told him to keep the hair off, probably until the kidney takes. He had himself waxed. This is a Mediterranean guy. I imagine the waxing was like waxing a shag carpet. Long story short, he loves it. His wife really loves it.

I have an unattractive jungle on my chest, but I don't think I'd have the patience to shave or the will to pay someone to rip it out with wax.

Only thing rougher than your razorburned chest are some of these responses! Funny what sets people off sometimes.

Use a buzzer! Done.

I'm blond but hairy like an ape. I'll admit I like to keep it trimmed down. It just feels better rather than carrying around a "coat", especially since I live in a hot climate.

Anyway, I just buzz it down but leave enough so as to keep it natural looking. That also avoids razor burn and ingrown hairs.

I wanna neg you for even considering shaving your chest let alone doing it.

Trimming down so you dont look like a werewolf IMO is acceptable but shaving it well.. ya whatever lol

I shave mine because I do atlas stones shirtless so they don't slip. No way I'd want to do stones shirtless with hair on my chest. I shave my forearms for the basically same reason, tacky and forearm hair just don't mix, well I guess it's more they mix too well.

This.... just buzz it with some clippers. No need to shave. I only need to do it once or twice a month.

As someone who has done this a squillion times...the best and only bits of advice and they worked for me..

ONE - absolutely...use a brand new razor for the shave. Not sure why but unless I do...problems ensue

And secondly....go lightly...do not..under any circs....attempt to get a closer and closer shave by pressing harder

Use a good foam and repeatedly, but lightly, get the shave done.

Went from where you are...to having no problems whatsoever!

Ditto. Just use a #1. (1/8")
You can't tell the difference from a few feet away, and you get to keep "some" manhood with the remaining hair and all.
Unless you're going into comp or a photo shoot or something...

Use a shaving OIL as opposed to a gem or foam. It makes the razor glide much much much more smoothely.

Nope...and that's the point. Why clip the chest when the back and everything south is just as furry. I'd look pretty darn ridiculous with a smooth chest and everything else furry---now wouldn't I?

I pretty my mow the chest and back a couple times a year. I have tried shaving to bareskin, but the itchyness drives me insane. I usually use clippers and a #1 or #2 attachment - so while I have chest (and back hair - ugh), its well groomed and even. If I use the #1 attachment, I actually look smooth from a distance. The wife is not overly keen when its so short, because apparently I feel like sandpaper.

I don't bother with legs, ass, or arms. Just shoulders chest and back.

I have tried waxing a couple times. And though it leaves you feeling very very smooth, you still have the possibility of ingrown hairs - so you gotta use baby oil to keep the skin supple. Oh and waxing stings like crazy!

I also go with clipped short with a trimmer with the #1 guide. My wife does my back and shoulders for me, whatta gal!

Two things 1) use a very good razor 2) afterwards use some talcom powder
