Just managed to get over the line again... Obviously winning these games is great, but a lot of improvements to be made.

Losing Jimmy was devastating. I really, really hated that. But the unfortunate reality is he wasn't going to re-sign based on what the Pats would offer. Initial talks began last spring and it wasn't looking good that a deal would be made. Bill saw a chance to get a high draft pick for Jimmy, instead of losing him to free agency and getting nothing.
Now we have a 40 year old QB (albeit the GOAT) and no back-up, no new generation QB. I expect the Pats to sign Hoyer to back up Tom. But he's not the future. I hope Tom stays healthy or we are ****ed.Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.

I have been reading that Jimmy wanted to be a starter and not 2nd string to Brady for a few more years. It was either get a high 2nd round draft pick or a compensatory pick. I've been trying to speculate what Belichick does, but at this point I have no clue. Obviously, they have something planned otherwise they wouldn't ship Jimmy.
Also, there are talks that Butler is still available for trade. At this point I don't know if Belichick cares about the future and just wants to win now or what. In Bill we TrustNew England Patriot

This is an interesting piece. The franchise tag is now freed up and could be used on Butler. On the other hand, they could trade him, but frankly, his play has been lackluster this season (opposing QB's averaging over 100 QBR rating against him) so I'm not sure that'll happen.

Hardly shocking that Jimmy was traded, like you guys have said, he wanted a lot of money (reasonable given the current spending on QBs), and didn't want to sit on the bench for years to come...
Some stuff on twitter suggesting that it was Kraft that pushed for the trade to show loyalty to Brady - who was worried about getting benched/traded himself soon? (Not sure how much I buy into that tbf).
Hoyer probably the most obvious back up choice now given his familiarity with the system, but I would be quite interested to see if they kick the tyres on ****n Kaepernick just to p*ss some people off haha.BRB' Projectile Vomitin'

If brady gets seriously hurt this season was doomed even with jimmy. So if tommy goes down i just want an entertaining gunslinger to come in and heave hail marys all over the field to amuse us til next year.
But they do need an actual backup incase brady has a minor injury and has to come out like in the playoffs vs pitt back in 01-02.
Is everyone pretty sure itll be hoyer or are there any other candidates?

Not to say Butler couldn't be better, but he's usually going against their best WR which makes it hard. Plus, early in the season that defense look atrocious. When Julio Jones caught that TD pass a couple weeks ago, Butler was in perfect coverage and Julio ripped the ball from his hands. Some stats can be slightly misleading.
At this point I don't think they are planning for "what IF Brady gets hurt." They won't be able to bring in a caliber QB like Brady so why does it matter who the back up is? The o-line is getting better and Brady is generally very good at not taking big hits. I think we'll be fine.New England Patriot

In light of the Eli benching, anyone have thoughts on what happens if/when the time comes for Brady? Think BB will bench Brady or let him ride out the season? I know Brady has always said he'll only play if he knows he's good enough to be on the field so maybe he'll take himself out of the equation before it starts going downhill.

Don't believe Brady will ever embarrass himself or the organization, when it's time he'll know it, IMO
Todays game Brady looked bothered, almost disinterested for lack of a better term but D looked good and a wins a win..
Go PATS!
Edit: almost forgot, happy for Jimmy G today

and Brady looks ready to retire
hasn't been completely fit for the past couple of weeks, and relies on running plays for 90% of the time. don't have a good feeling about this, but I could very well be wrong of course.

The Pats have an odd loss or two every year and a few odd wins that seem like they are regressing to onlookers who aren't familiar with their pattern.
Brady supposedly has an Achilles injury. Regardless he had several elite level passes in this game tonight. His pocket dacing was other worldly in a few plays. Not worried for him at all. A bit of avocado ice cream and he'll be go to go next week.
And lol @ "90% of the time" that is a bogus stat.
