Hi all, wanted to ask for some advice here. I know a bit about the general benefits of carbs post-workout - the sugar can spike insulin and restore glycogen stores and help transport protein more efficiently around the body... (or something along those lines. If I'm totally wrong, PLEASE correct me!)
I take a whey isolate shake with water post workout that is about 32g protien, and roughly 0g fat and 0g carbs. I am looking for an easy way to add carbs immediately after a meal. I have read that a 1:2 protein:carb ratio is roughly ideal, so that would be 60-70g of carbs. Is there any specific type (ie sugar, etc)?
I am living in France for a while.. there are amazing bakeries right near by my gym. I can easily pick up something like a chocolate pastry to munch on immediately after (along with my shake), but I want to ensure that this is beneficial. I know that too much fat can slow down digestion (I think due to the 9calories/g of fat, or perhaps due to chemical properties), and croissants and other things of that nature are usually very fatty.
Any other suggestions? I could try maybe a bag of Muesli or Granola or Cereal, if I can find some at the grocery store maybe? Advice greatly appreciated

There's no need to try to "spike" insulin post-workout.
There's no requirement for "fast-digesting" protein post-workout.
Eating sugar is a waste of good calories; eat some pasta, or potatoes, or some rice, or anything else that has real nutritive value.
Save yourself a lot of inconvenience and trouble, and just eat a regular meal after your workout.
I'd suggest you start reading the information in the stickies at the top of this forum. No brain, no gain.
