About Me
I have been lifting for about 5 years now and have since lost over 75 lbs. I have been suffering from a sleeping disorder for the past 19 months now and it has been slowly wearing me down. My strength and endurance have plummeted as a result of my poor energy and recovery. I have problems falling asleep, staying asleep, and wake up too early. I have seen no difference in my sleep based on diet, caffeine/stimulant intake, liquid/water intake, or maintaining consistent sleep patterns. Sleep aids I have tried in the past include melatonin, GABA, ****** (perscription), trazodone (perscription) and a few others. About a year ago I decided to stop taking my sleeping medication because I still never woke up feeling refreshed and was often more groggy. I have since sparingly used natural sleep aids in place of my medication because I get similar results most nights and dont feel poisoned as a result.
My sleeping disorder is nowhere near as bad as it used to be, but I still have enough trouble falling asleep and staying asleep that I am looking for an occasional sleep aid to give me some help and hopefully allow me to recover better from my workouts.
Goals and Expectations
I am hoping to find a new product to pull me fall asleep and keep me asleep. I have seen many recommendations about phenibut but have never gotten around to trying it. My goals are to recomp as best I can while slowly improving my strength and endurance.
Based on other user feedback, I expect to have an easier time falling asleep, staying asleep, and to wake up feeling refreshed. In turn, I also expect my energy, recovery, focus, strength and sense of well being to improve with my sleep as well.
Dosing
I will only be using this product 2-3 days a week. I will be dosing 2 capsules approximately 2 hours before bed on an empty stomach Monday and Wednesday nights (due to having 8am classes the next day). I may also take Phenibut XT 1 other day a week if I feel I need some extra sleep for a workout the next day or upcoming exams, etc. I dont believe phenibut needs to be cycled when being dosed like this.
Diet
I am at college, so eating healthy can be difficult. My macro goals are simple, ~200g of protein and as many carbs as I can fit into ~2300 calories/day. Most fat I consume comes from eggs, cheese, ranch dressing and fish oil. I currently am more or less maintaining, and perhaps may be in a slight deficit due to my increased activity at school. When I dont like the cafeteria menu I will typically make some kind of meal out of protein powder and mixed nuts. I aim for 1.5 gallons of water each day and rarely drink anything else.
Training
I am currently taking a break from running The Blueprint due to not being able to recover fast enough from the workouts. My current routine is fairly simple and geared towards progressive overload and being able to get more reps each week. Once I max out an exercise (3 sets of 10 reps), the following week I add 5-10lbs and lift that weight until I hit 3x10 again. My lifting schedule is typically 1 day on, 1 day off with extra rest days added as needed. Strength has taken a backseat in my training as I focus more on hypertrophy and getting a good pump. Since developing my sleeping disorder, lifting heavy weights causes me to reach a state of overtraining rather quickly.
Pulling
-Lat Pulldown (3x10)
-Close Grip Cable Rows (3x10)
-Incline Dumbbell Curls (2x10)
-Wide Neutral Grip Pullups (1 set to failure)
Lifting
-Deadlift (3x10)
-Cleans (3x6)
Pushing
-Bench Press (3x10)
-Seated Shoulder Dumbbell Press (2x10)
-Dips (1 set to failure)
-Overhead V-Bar Pushdowns (2x10)
Legs/Abs
-Squats (3x10)
-Seated Calf Press Machine (3x10)
-Overhead Cable Crunches (1x10)
-Ab Plank (1 set to failure)
I wont be logging my diet or workouts, but I will note when I have good workouts, significant increases in strength, improved recovery, and changes in energy and hunger. I keep track of my lifts to see what I lifted the previous workout so I can try to match or beat it. My next 2 workouts will be deloading for pushing and legs/abs before going back to my normal weights.
I will also do light/moderate cardio and play basketball when I have the time and energy to do so.
Other supplements I will be using
E-Pharm TestForce2 (1 serving on off days)
BCS Labs Alpha Pump (2 servings preworkout)
Applied Nutraceuticals Lit-Up (2 servings preworkout as needed)
SNS Inhibit-E (1 capsule every day)
Now L-Dopa (1 capsule on off days)
Gaspari Anavite (2 servings every day)
Schiff Probiotic Acidophilus (1 table every day)
NP Omega-3 Fish Oil (6 capsules every day)
Pure Synergy Superfood (1 serving every day)
Controlled Labs Oximega Greens (2 servings as needed)
NOW Vitamin C (1 capsule as needed)
NOW Psyllium Husk Powder (1-3 tsp as needed)
AI Sports RecoverPro (2-5 servings pre/intra workout)
Omega Sports ONE (2-3 servings post workout)
Xtreme Formulations Whey Protein (1-2 servings as needed)
Xtreme Formulations UP 2.0 (1-3 servings as needed)
TNS Trutein (1-2 servings as needed)
SNS Focus XT (1 serving in the morning/pre workout as needed)
Allmax Caffeine (1 table in the morning/pre workout as needed)
I may also use various samples I have laying around. I will also use melatonin as sparingly as possible and only on nights that I am not taking Phenibut XT.
I am almost 4 weeks into my DAA run and havent really seen any improved sleep or recovery so far, so I dont believe that will conflict with the improved sleep I expect with Phenibut XT.
Please feel free to ask questions or leave comments about what you think I should change or can improve.

Didnt sleep well last night. Layed in bed for almost 2 hours not sleeping, got woken up twice when I was almost asleep, and was tossing a turning during the night. My mind was racing as I was laying down and I couldnt clear my head to fall asleep.

That's really weird. Like em said, it doesn't really put me to sleep but it helps relax me so that my sleep is more restful. Have you noticed any of the other properties such as calmness or the general relaxation aside from the sleep factor?

I didnt get to sleep last night until around 1230 because I forgot about a lab report I had to do for today. Me and my lab partner finished it through email pretty late and I was up 2 hours later than i planned.
I still didnt get that "pull me to sleep" effect that Im looking for, but I can say I was much more efficient while doing homework and my report than normal. I also slept soundly the whole night. Granted I was extremely tired, I still cant remember the last time I went a full night without tossing and turning and waking up multiple times. Woke up for my 8am extremely disoriented from still being in such a deep sleep. We think we know, that is our tragedy; so we never discover.

Took 1 scoop focus xt yesterday morning before my exam (normally dont take stims monday or wednesday) and worked out around 1 only taking alpha pump preworkout. Took 2 caps phenibut xt at 820, about 3 hours after dinner. Took me a while to fall asleep still. I was up past midnight again.
I did get into a deep sleep again but I still woke up an unfortunate amount during the night. Took 2 scoops litup this morning before class as my source of caffeine and daa for the day.We think we know, that is our tragedy; so we never discover.

I'm sorry to see the way this is going for you. Have you tried combining anything with it to maybe illicit a better response? Say benedryl, melatonin, valerian root, etc? Just hoping you can find something that works for you.

im just using it alone to gauge its effects for now. strangely enough im having the most trouble falling asleep the nights before my 8ams but the rest of the week i could go to bed and fall asleep fine, as far as my sleeping goes.
it might be, if it continues ill know for sure. it may also be that its getting colder since that usually helps me sleep. We think we know, that is our tragedy; so we never discover.

Definitely appreciate the honesty man, this is the kind of feedback we need. One thing I've noticed with all sleep aids is that they take time to start working, for whatever reason. Even my all-time favorite, Nimbus Poseidon NT, takes about 2 weeks to kick in. Just stick with it man, and try to use it around the same time each day to get your sleep-wake cycles in tune with Phenibut usage.

Took me a while to fall asleep again last night, still having random thoughts popping in and out of my head. Didnt get into a deep sleep like i had the past few nights with phenibut, might have been because I was too cold but Im not sure. I was rolling around again most of the night and woke up really tired and groggy this morning.
