You'd be surprised how quickly you can see improvement with these if you start doing sets of singles and doubles. What I did was to put a bench under me so that when I couldn't do any unassisted anymore I could press off it with my toes just enough to crank out however many more I needed to make a set of 10. Now chinups are probably my favorite exercise
