    I've been doing the same for a while now. I just can't seem to get in a good groove with BW chins. I always run out of breath after 8-10 reps, it's weird. Pulldowns on the other hand are great, do them slow and controlled, no cheating, improve every week.

    Imo much better than assisted chins, which don't really seem to emulate the pulling experience in the same way.

    You'd be surprised how quickly you can see improvement with these if you start doing sets of singles and doubles. What I did was to put a bench under me so that when I couldn't do any unassisted anymore I could press off it with my toes just enough to crank out however many more I needed to make a set of 10. Now chinups are probably my favorite exercise

    I agree with the others here even doing singles on chins you will build up strength on them quickly as you learn the movement using bodyweight.

    p.s hope school etc is going well, you're in exam period correct? As my semester is progressing I'm getting bogged down more & more by weekly readings, assessment etc. It just won't end!!
