The definition of mediocre. He won the title because of good timing, and his title run is starting to look like it was a fluke now. In his UFC run, he holds wins over Stephan Bonnar (whoopie), Hector Ramirez (lol), Elvis Sinosic (lol), a rusty Shogun who didn't take the fight seriously. Rampage, who completely looked passed him, a washed up Tito, and a past his prime Franklin. Got kfto by Keith "The Dean of Pillowhands" Jardine, Evans, middleweight Anderson Silva, and Shogun. Also dropped a decision to Tito.

No one even cared about this guy until he made it to the UFC. He was too busy getting tapped out by Japanese cans and losing to Carlos Newton before getting in a lucky knee. So, let's look at the "p4p great's" UFC run that is so praised:
Leben: Everyones favorite drunken brawler. Any halfway decent technical striker can own sloppy ass Leben
Franklin: Let's be honest here, Franklins best win at this point was Evan Tanner. Aside from him, he's beaten Shamrock, Quarry, Loiseau, and a bunch of nobodies, really.
Lutter: Lulz. Was getting wrestlef*cked by the "MJ Of BJJ" up until pulling off a sub
Marquardt: Beat Dean Lister to get a shot. His only notable wins in recent memory are welterweight Martin Kampmann, a flukey KO over Maia, and a stoppage over low fight-IQ Palhares. Marquardt is an overrated fighter.
Henderson: Was implementing a good gameplan against Anderson and was winning until he went full retard and abandoned his wrestling.
Irvin: Can with heavy hands. Never stood a chance.
Cote: Lulz at him even getting a title shot. Cut from the UFC.
Leitis: Basically got a title shot for being piledriven by Marquardt. Butt flopped during the whole fight with Anderson, and Anderson wouldn't even fight him on the ground.
Griffin: Brawler coming off a loss. Former champ, but his title run is questionable. Had a dumb gameplan against Anderson, and his sloppy striking is tailor made for and technical striker.
Maia: See Letis, only he got ktfo by Marquardt
Sonnen: Wrestlef*cked Anderson for 4 and a half rounds before getting Triangled, as usual. It took Anderson almost a full title fight to triangle this guy.
Belfort: As inconsistent as they come. Was 8-6 in his last 14 coming into this fight, and didn't even have a middleweight UFC fight prior to this.
Okami: Just not that great of a fighter. All he has going for him is strength. A slow starter, and not aggressive at all
After dropping 3 straight in the UFC, he beat a very green Glieson Tibau and won a sloppy, technique-free war with Gomi. Then went on to face a murderers row including Scott Smith, Frank Shamrock, Marius Zaromskis, Evangelista Santos, and 83 year old Hyato Sakurai*Sit there and don't know what to do when people sing happy birthday to me crew*

Pre Zuffa: Beat a bunch of nobodies and lost to one
Zuffa career:
beat a fat, out of shape Werdum
ko'd Stefan "hands down, chin up" Struve
beat a washed up Cro Cop in a fairly competitive fight.
Gilbert Yvel: Not a guy a contender should be facing. A heavyweight who has lost to Jeremy Horn
ko'd Gonzaga. Gonzaga's only notable win ever is a Cro Cop who looked like he didn't even want to be there
Went the distance with Roy Nelson, a cardio machine who also was landing some decent shots on Junior
Went the distance with Shane Carwin who took the fight on short notice. Carwin's a sloppy striker with big power and decent wrestling. Shouldn't really be top 10.*Sit there and don't know what to do when people sing happy birthday to me crew*

GSP has a rather lengthy UFC resume, so i'll just point out is "notable wins" and not bring up the fact that he got ktfo by a midget. So, let's start with his second title run.
Hughes: Beat an aging Hughes for the Interim Title
Serra: Finally beat up the midget in his own backyard, something he was supposed to do the first time
Fitch: Do yourself a favor and take a look at Fitch's record. You'll see that he's only lost to GSP since 2002. What you'll also see is that he only holds 2 top 10 wins in his entire UFC career. Chael Sonnen has the same amount of top 10 wins in his last 3 fights than Fitch does in the past 9 years. The guy constantly gets fed gatekeepers and doesn't even beat them that convincingly. Mike Pierce was busting him up in the last round, and he drew with a lightweight. Also, take note of his questionable fight against Jeff Joslin.
Penn: Beat up a lightweight. That same lightweight also busted him up in the first fight, so this is the second time GSP has had to face an undersized opponent in a rematch to get a convincing win
Alves: 1-3 in his last four fights, with his only win being against John Howard. Leading up to the title shot, he beat an aging Hughes (who he came in overweight for), and Koscheck, who took the fight on extremely short notice. Is now barley top 10.
Hardy: Lol. Scared to death to strike with Hardy, and couldn't even submit BRITISH Dan Hardy despite GSP being a BJJ Black Belt.
Koscheck: Another wrestler who forgot he's a wrestler and spams the big right hand. He couldn't have fought a dumber fight. Biggest win is Paul Daley
Shields: A guy with 0 striking ability busted up a supposed elite striker in GSP in a lackluster fight.Last edited by John L; 09-10-2011 at 01:32 PM.

Look up inconsistent in the dictionary, and you'll see a picture of Vitor Belfort and BJ Penn. Penn has a rather lengthy resume of opponents, so let's take a look at his fights since his return at UFC 58
GSP: Got outwrestled by a semi-noob in GSP
Hughes: got outstruck and tko'd by K1 Hughes
Pulver: Beat a declining Pulver who just got ktfo by Lauzon, of all people
Stevenson: The fact that Joe Daddy got a shot at the vacant title is laughable, and shows how weak the UFC's lightweight division was at that point. BJ destroyed him, as he should have
Sherk: Forgot he was a wrestler, and decided to try to out box BJ with his T-Rex arms. What an idiot.
GSP: got his ass kicked and quit
Florian: Known for choking in the big fight, and he did just that. Fought like a scared girl, and it still took BJ until round 4 to get him out of there
Sanchez: Was sent packing to lightweight after getting wrestlef*cked at 170. Went the distance with Stevenson and Guida and got a title shot for doing so. Didn't even deserve to be a top 10 lightweight, he was given the shot because he was a marketable TUF'fer
Edgar: Got beaten twice by natural featherweight Edgar. Looked absolutley awful in the second fight
Hughes: ko'd Hughes (who is now officially aged) simply by touching his chin. Hughes can't take a punch anymore.
Fitch: Drew with Fitch. However, BJ was defeated in the 3rd round, and had this fight been 5 rounds, Fitch would have taken it.*Sit there and don't know what to do when people sing happy birthday to me crew*

LMAO, reps on recharge.
for ****s and giggles
Rocky I: couldn't take the title from an aging Apollo who didn't take the fight serious at all.
Rocky II: Was getting his asswhipped by a past his prime Apollo Creed who decided to actually take the fight seriously. Rocky got lucky in the final round, because Apollo decided to fight like an idiot.
Rocky III: Was getting pummeled by Thunderlips. He had to cut off his gloves to earn a draw. Mr. T? lol, only throws hooks, zero gas tank, plus, the dude's idea of defense was to block with his face.
Rocky IV: Drago was a Russian can crusher/steroid user. Only legitimate win was an exhibition win against a way out his prime Apollo Creed. Even still, Russian can-crusher was probably beating Rocky before Rocky scored another of those miracle comebacks.
Rocky V: movie was ****. besides, balboa didn't even get in the ring. Besides, tommy gun? LOL
Rocky VI: okay, pretty good for a 60 year old, but Antonio Tarver is a bum, and he broke his hand :-pDeathstroke and I list our most hilariously awful WCW moments (lots of gifs & vids; expect load time):
