    Altering a routine...opinions?

I know alot of you hate when people ask advice about routines but I would like your opinions on this. I made a thread about dc training and a suggested routine was a three day split. Day One being chest/delts/tris. Day Two being Back/Traps/Bis. Day Three being legs. The thing is I rather go 5 times a week so do you think it would be okay to just start the routine over again on Thursday? Assuming I do Day one on monday? Thanks Guys

    yes... frequency > volume

In fact , you could even do like Bench 3x a week, Squat 3x a week, and barbell rows/deadlifts/pullups 2x a week

You do not need dog crapp training yet, it's for more advanced lifters who have plateued in growing.

Check this routine out, is called Max-OT. It is actually a 5 day split and if carried on right, strength and mass gains will be unstoppable, as they have been for me.

@Op, with your stats and weakness, I suggest you do the following to take advantage of massive newb gains:

    Monday
    Bench
    Overhead Press
    Tricep Work

    Tuesday
    Squat
    Deadlift
    BB Rows
    Biceps

    Wednesday
    Bench
    Overhead Press

    Thursday
    Deadlift
    Squat
    BB Row

    Friday
    Bench
    Overhead Press
    Triceps

    Saturday
    Squat
    Front Squat
    (Biceps optional)

    Sunday
    REST/EAT/SLEEP

you can skip saturday if you are too lazy / too much of a b!tch to do 6 days ... but I would take advantage of it imo while youre a newb

Thanks for the responses guys but I mean ive been lifting pretty faithfully for a year or so now, i used to be a skinny 130lbs i know im still fuarking small but i have seen gains. Ive always done alot of volume the last 4 months ive been doing Mon-Chest Tri Tue-Back Bi Wed Legs Shoulders Traps, then repeat till saturday sunday off. ive been getting stronger but i keep getting told this sort of split sucks thats why i thought id turn to a routine which has more compound movements.

I don't think you understand the point of DC training. If you do it 4-5 times a week, it is no longer anything remotely resembling DC training. Do it as written or don't do it.
    Current / goal by September

    Deadlift: 500 / 520
    Bench: 315 / 330
    Squat: 475 / 500

Ya i did read quite a bit on it, what really caught my eye was the fact that its heavy compound movements and the rest pause sets I like too. LoveToLiftBig you think its a good to just incorporate those rest pause sets and less sets into my current routine? maybe some of the stretches too?

The only part of DC that is really 'advanced' is the undulating periodization. Everything else works fine for lifters of any training history.

A beginner lifter does not need to use the training methods of DC training yet. Anything is going to work for them to grow. It's aimed at people who have been lifting 2-3 years and have hit a plateu. DC said it himself if you had read it. Theres a whole blogspot dedicated to it.

Dante only says this because he doesn't want to deal with the novices bombarding him with stupid questions. The founding principle of DC training, consistent progressive overload, is exactly what novices should look for in a training program.

Yeah you could. But what I feel is at 5'8", 154 lbs your relatively new to lifting so thus you don't need these training methods to grow. Your going to grow regardless of what training methods, so why not use something simpler.
