Plain and simple. Panthers will not have the balls to do it, but now is the time to trade Cam Newton or at least draft a quarterback and put pressure on him. The Panthers are not winning a Super Bowl with him, period.

McCaffrey is no doubt a big factor in helping the Panthers offense advance the ball - he is their MVP on offense this season. He is averaging 54.85 yards per game receiving and 69.92 yards rushing per game, for a combined 124.77 total yards per game on offense. This season, the Panthers are averaging 234.1 passing yards per game and 134.6 rushing yards per game, or 368.7 yards per game total. McCaffrey is averaging a hair under 1/3 of their total yards per game on offense.
I see a player who consistently tries to get by on his athleticism and size alone. Cam has had a top defense every year over the past 5 years - a statistical fact. He has literally not changed a single trait which hampers his ability - his mechanics suck (upper body thrower, poor footwork - gets by on size & athleticism), he holds on to the ball too long, he throws the ball too high, he has serious accuracy issues, weak in the 2 minute drill, lacks a sense of urgency at times and he's a poor leader (pouts when things aren't going his way). Over his career, he's had 1) A career completion percentage of 59.7, 2) An average of 1.42 passing TD's per game, 3) An average of 1.02 turnovers per game. He's averaging 7.21 yards per completion this season (18th in the league). He's 38th in passer rating this season.
He has had no pressure of not being the guy in Carolina, why should he change? His only Super Bowl appearance - he choked like he needed the Heimlich maneuver. Why would anyone possibly believe he could carry this team to a Super Bowl at this point? His injuries will eventually begin catching up to him, as they do with all mobile QB's and his play will decline because he'll be less mobile and still not great at passing.
Cam is an inconsistent, tremendously athletic and sizable QB who is a slightly above average QB with a lot of fundamental issues he refuses to fix. There have been whispers for years within the league that he is difficult to coach. No franchise should be giving him top tier money.Last edited by HoganIsGOAT; 12-21-2018 at 10:34 AM.
