So in my usercp it says "bobofango" repped me from this thread. So, I wanted to rep him back and I put his name in the basic search bar and it only brings up your threads. Any idea why? I then went to advanced search and typed his name and it came up correctly so I repped him. I went back to the regular search and tried it again and again, it brought up your threads.

I ordered a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 from costco the other day. Should arrive tomorrow. Can't wait to screw around with it, especially since I can return it within 90 days (god bless Costco's return policy). I've been on the fence of getting a tablet, but their return policy sealed the deal. No risk for me.

the iPad doesn't have a lot of things but then again the iPad is not targeted for people like me and you who have in depth knowledge of tablets etc.
the iPad sells so well and is a favorite because it is easy to use and simply works. The GUI is extremely user-friendly and the average person is just going to watch a few youtube videos, check their email, surf the web and thats it. Apple knows this so they aren't going to load it with the high end stuff because thats not their target audience.
Most tablets have been very dissapointing as well such as the Motorola Xoom which has had a very hard time selling and was hyped to be the iPad killer.
All the android tablets together only have a 20% market share while iOS holds 59% and the other 21% is mixed with Windows etc.

some good apps i use on the regular:
moboplayer - video player that will play pretty much any file type, better then stock.
stupid zombies - like angry birds but i like it better
x construct - awesome game where you build bridges in order to get a train across (sounds lame but super addicting)
dropbox - gives you 2 free gb's, download to your pc and to your tablet and you can just drag and drop files into your dropbox and access them from your tablet/pc/phone via wifi
perfect viewer - (mostly for comics if you read any)
wapedia - wikipedia - just a bit faster then going into the browser and to the actual website
dolphin HD browser - dunno if its better then the stock internet browser but its the same one i use on my phone
air attack HD - super addicting over the top view airplane shooting game - hella fun
wallbase.net - great site for high resolution wallpapers. hard to find good ones since the resolution is high and it makes the images look blurred. this site has some good HR pics.
just a few off the top of my head. just surf around the marketplace for a while, theres tons of cool apps.
krispy1 has posted some links ITT to cheap HDMI cables and such. if you have an HDTV its totally worth it. also get a good case, and a microfiber shammy cloth will do wonders for your screen to get off fingerprints and such.
the HP touchpad? if so then yeah it might be... i think they are around 400 in the store for the 16 gig. even if you don't like it i'm sure you could sell for profit on craigslist to get a better one or one you like better.
i really don't know much about the OS they use though.
to anyone interested in any tablets i'd recommend going on youtube and watching a few different videos on them, almost every tablet has video reviews on youtube. obviously going to the store and playing with one would be better but this helped me decide on my transformer.Sometimes I park in handicap spaces, while handicap people make handicap faces

I just ordered the case you recommended in the other thread (transformer one) from Overstock.com because it was a little cheaper. Amazon had it for 35.00 but then you had to pay an automatic $8.40 or something for shipping which is ridiculous. Overstock.com had it for $36 and then $3 shipping.
Thanks to freeburn as well for trying out the crappy case so I knew not to buy it :-).

Krispy had recommended the rooCase Executive in the other thread and it does look really great online. The reviews were favorable as well and it retails for around $70. Overstock has the cheapest I could find with shipping for just under $40.

Innnnn
Have been wanting a tablet for awhile now just for surfing and some light gaming duties. Love Android but I wish they would just sort everything out, seems all of the tablets are half baked with issues.
Played with an iPad 2 and it was pretty nice. Solid build but the back was so slippery, definitely could use a case. Apple does make devices that just work.
I am thinking of waiting to see what the Amazon Hollywood Kal El looks like.rumpler of stiltskins

ya buy a transformer, we all have one and like it
i wouldnt geta ipad, ecosystem is too locked up. plus 40$ for hdmi out, no sd slot for more memory no flash ect..
if your looking now buy the transformer or the galaxy tab(note the galaxy tab doesnt have hdmi or sd)
there are no "half baked issues" unless bought a xoom when it came out(ppl in canada with the wifi models are still on 3.0 and no working sd slot)
the amazon tablet should be nice and competitive prices is a for sure thing, rumors are saying they want to use kal el, though i donno if they will really use kal el. probably tegra 2 for costs reasons but nvidia is sampling kal el now and are really trying to push it out to replace tegra 2 and get to the market soon to beast all the dual cores in performance and production starts within the next month so its possible. that would be dope if they released a quad core tab at the same prices as the duals out

No issues? Seems some of the forums are full of people complaining. Yeah I know that happens with all products but out of the gate a lot of the tablets had issues brah.
and yeah I hate the closed Apple system. I may just get it for my girl as she is used to that OS.rumpler of stiltskins

For me, the tablet is like a PC accessory or to supplement a technological-life. It's not a replacement for a real computer, but the portability is nice and convenient.
I mainly use my tablet for things like lazy internet surfing on the bed/couch. Or having something to do while on the crapper. I would eventually like to take it out when I'm at a coffee shop or something on the weekends and just want to relax.
I don't go to school, so I can't say how useful it would be in that case.--------------------- ϞϞ( ๑⚈ ․̫ ⚈๑). ---------------------

haters gonna hate, you will find issues about every product in existence on forums this shouldnt merit your choices as the reality is alot better then whats portrayed. everyone who got the transformer here seems to be enjoying it, its a good tablet. i wouldnt worry about the nit pickers. if your interested go and try some of the tablets out.

i haven't noticed many force closes at all really. i've been extremely happy with my TF's performance since i opened it. but i guess it depends on what apps you use alot and such. some are kind of buggy, but thats mostly just ones that are meant for cell phones i think.
