I have had a long lay off due to a major illness. I was diagnosed with cancer. I was given a year to live.
That was a year ago.
I am posting this to perhaps in some way give back what was given to me. HOPE and some motivation to those who may be secretly suffering as I was. I had no clue what was happening but I knew I was in a mental and physical fog. Nobody diagnosed me until I was at level 4.
Background, I started at
280 lbs within 6 months of severe chemo therapy I went to 205. I went from waist of 48 to 34" So at least something good came out of all this.
I will start to do weekly journals when I can. But my goal is not what it once was. It is now to get healthy and live to see my little girl grow up.
I do encourage anyone with the same problems to do the same and not give up like I was going to do. But you can beat this as I AM sure I WILL.
To old friends Hello and sorry for what ever, to new friends I hope this will give you some motivation.
Tomorrow will be chest day, I will post something in the evening.

Well I suppose a few weeks back I must have done something to my shoulder. I thought it would be better today but I suffered from it.
Today was chest, I struggled with my right side lifting but the left is able.
So...
Chest press machine I figured safer to go low weights until I heal.
3 sets of 10 weigh was 100,130,140
Bench press
3 sets of 8
ranging from 100 - 140
incline press
3 sets of 6
I stayed constant with 100# on this one but felt the pain and cracking in the joint.
Flyes
4 sets of 12
I kept this one low as well due to the struggle with the right side to even get it to keep up with the left side
85-100
15 minutes of treadmill at a incline @ speed of 3
I suppose this injury could be from a past disc removed in the neck that affect the arms nerves. may have aggravated the metal plate or screws.
OK tomorrow is back day, I hope i do better on this one.
I weighed in at 224# I have gained some weight since my last chemo session. I only hope that the next 4 chemo session dont affect my working out.

Sorry I took such a long lay off from here. My mind fog has finally lifted and hair is back in a pony tail ( after losing it all to r- chop)
I reached 60, watched my baby girl grow up and will be graduating in a few days. I was diagnosed as cancer free. I have been going to the gym faithfully 5-6 times a week lifting as much as I can. I weigh In at 215 lbs. cut and arms are 17.5 inches. I definitely do not feel or look my age, ( well the latter is what I am told.) I suppose I should re start this thing one more time? I will post a picture I took when I turned 60.

Today was leg day.
Started GVT ( sort of ). Doing single leg.
Leg extensions 10x15x 75
leg curls 10x15x50
calf raises 5x20x100
I definitely felt the pain and the pump. Kinda like this work out. I was without my gym partner today, she was at camp with her mom for the weekend.
I need to work on my diet. I don't feel I am getting enough protein and fats. I may start on an anabolic diet plan. I also have started DAA, in an attempt to raise my T levels somewhat.

You still staying with it?
I discovered your "resurrected" journal today... not many of us are able to find our old journals and bring them back to life. Especially glad that you can after your first post 6 years ago!!Paul

I'm still with it at 60. Yes I know I took off some major time from here, I did how ever keep working out. I sometimes cant post due to time restraints, ( I have 4 apartment buildings I do maintenance on and also run my own company. I also purchase a new building annually to repair and rent out Usually multi units. So yeah I am busy.)
Just got back from doing a chest workout.
Machine press. 10 sets of 10 with 3 warm ups presses.
Flyes 5 sets of 8 at 175 lbs
low pulley flyes 3 sets of 8
hi pulley 3 sets of 8
Been doing abs daily. Today I did hanging leg raises. I did 3 sets of 15 and suddenly my ab muscles did a major contraction. I spent 15 minutes trying to stretch it out.
I did not do cardio due to a major cramp the other day in my ham and quad from dehydration. I was out in the sun for 6 hours at 91 degrees and I guess I drank little and went to do legs. Bad idea.....

Weighed in at 215 this morning didn't take any measurements as of yet.

Thanks everyone.
Today was back day, went with the daughter to the gym as usual.
Warm up Pull downs- 3 sets @150
Work set- 5 sets varying from 150-250 lbs reps, 8-10
One arm rows varied from 50-110 lbs, reps 8 4 sets
face pulls ( love these), 3 sets of 12x 100 lbs
reverse flyes 4 sets of 8, 165 lbs
Weighted crunches ( waited until abs had enough blood flow to properly work them).5 sets of 15@ 110
Chair twists for obliques -4 sets of 15, 110lbs
15 minutes on treadmill at 3.5
feeling some improvement in my lifts, however not as much as I would like. Perhaps I need to restart preworkout drinks again. I kinda gave them up for a bit. But I suppose some NOS stimulators may help. I am unresponsive to creatine so that is money saved. I also do have some amino powder I purchased a few months back I should probably sip on during workouts.
I may also purchase an ab belt just to keep the abs hot before I work them out for the additional blood flow.
Till next time..............

Cancer..... I figure someone may be suffering as I had with non hodgkins follicular lymphoma. This is a manageable disease only, non curable..... BUT! with the right diet and attitude it can be gone for good hopefully. My story..
I as previously explained was diagnosed with this cancer. I was scared and confused as most would be. I went to the doctor on a Thursday for a biopsy and was told Saturday I was dieing. Hmmmm. So I was put into the hospital for my first rounds and a port. The port was necessary because of the drugs that would destroy my skin if they touched it. ( yet it was forced through my heart).Any way. I , was shell shocked and went along with the R- Chop, hair falling out loss of appetite, vomiting etc...I researched this after I could think a bit and found some interesting facts. DMSO will take the chemicals straight to the cancer and turmeric is a cancer killer as well. I started to use these and not tell my oncologist. He was amazed at how the treatment was working vs others he had treated in the past. But also I never stopped working out and as hard as I could. My last exam the doc said this cancer usually will come back to most but for me he doubts it.
People do research and never give up, there has to be a way. I found mine and proved them wrong. I plan to live well over 100. I wish all who suffer as I did the best and I hope you find your cure.
