it will save you much! frustration in the future.
I will also say you should aim for about 40% protien, 40% carbs and 20% fat in your diet. this works for a lot of people. you may decide to make some changes in the future....
another tip is to track your progress / set your goals six weeks into the future. once you start something, stick to it for 6 weeks before making any changes. taking small bites can make things easier to achieve.
so for instance, you can say "I'm going to eat 2000 cals at 40/40/20 for six weeks...I'm going to do 30-45 minutes cardio 5 days a week no matter what and I hope to lose 10-15 pounds of fat in that time"

aight bump on both wildman and as0l0-good advice. u HAVE to count calories-thas the only was u'll know if gona lose or gain. the reason i asked u b/w which meals u did cardio/lifted was b/c u want maybe the bananna after that, altho truthfully im with wildman and i say screw fruits. if u look on ur protein shakes, it should tell u what kind they are. it prob. is whey and it doesn't really make alot of difference. good luck 2 u man!

One thing that really helped me drop a lot of weight was to keep a food journal- it helps monitor total calories, breakdown of type of food, when you ate, etc.
If you have to write it down, it makes it more difficult to overeat, IMO.
Try not to lose the weight too fast, aim for no more than 2 lbs a week; any more than that is likely muscle mass. So allow yourself about 7.5 months to fully drop the weight.
Good luck on your journey.

the most IMPORTANT thing is to IMMERSE yourself in the fitness world.
i'm not joking either. become a fitness/bodybuilding/cardio nut. become passionate about it. decide that you are now a DIFFERENT person. your old self would eat mcdonalds if you needed a quick meal, the NEW self grabs a protein bar. your old self would sit down to a meal and eat 2-3 helpings of whatever is on the table, your NEW self already has a plan for what you will eat for dinner, along with all of the calories calculated.
2.5 years ago i went from 230lbs to 195. i looked great, i felt great, however, i was NOT dedicated to fitness. i wasnt lifting properly, i wasnt doing cardio properly, i wasnt supplementing properly, and i was NOT resisting temptations properly. eventually, i fell off the wagon, and gave up. i decided i would ALWAYS be fat, so why even bother. i then continued with my VERY unhealthy lifestyle until i put all the weight back on PLUS 10 pounds. i then decided to find (oh, and this is sick if you think about it) the weight at which i could eat whatever the **** i wanted, not do any exercise, and my body would maintain that weight. turns out that weight was 240lbs. so 2.5 years later, i was a VERY hefty240lbs, and at 5'10" that is obese. the SAD part is, that over those 2.5 years i STILL was paying $47 a month for my gym membership, cause i truly wanted to go back, but couldnt bring myself to do it. that is how a diet plan FAILS miserably......here's how it works wonderfully.
4 months ago, i finally came to the realization of how truly fat i was. it was disgusting! i was wearing a size 42 pants, i was wearing xxL shirts, i finally realized SOMETHING had to be done when i was fitted for a size 44short suit which needed to be brought out to accomodate my love handles. the next day i started going to the gym again. HOWEVER, this time, i began doing research. i IMMERSED myself in the fitness lifestyle. i bought magazines, i started looking at websites like this, and i directed all the passion in my body towards fitness. and guess what?? it worked. i have never cheated on my diet.....never even wanted to. i've never missed a workout, and i've NEVER lost sight of my goals. and after 4 months i've gone from 240 to 174 with 13.5% body fat. is it good enough?? hell no. i've given myself to august to get down to 8% body fat, then i've given myself till dec. to bulk up (cleanly) then i've given myself till feb. where at my 1 year mark i want to be around 185-190 and under 10%bf. can it be done....hell yes, cause i have my goals. my next year is already planned out, and nothing will stop me. and if you want to know how to succeed in dieting, well there it is. just check my signature: strength + dedication + passion=SUCCESS. it doesnt get much more simple than that. remember, failure is NOT an option.....and relapse is NOT in your vocabularydedication + strength + passion=SUCCESS!
Cutting SUX!!!! now i BULK!!!! goddamn i hope i dont get fat again

After reading this thred, I am inspired again.
hey PeteM, I am also 5'11" and 232 lbs. I want to achieve what you have. I also have tried on and off again to lose weight. It doesn't work. It also gets frustrating, but the motivation and support at this web site is great. Thanks.
I am having a hard time lowering my calories below 2400.
And it usually equals 30/30/30. But I was unaware of what I was consuming until I wrote it down and kept a log. It truly helps. Now I can tweak my diet. by watching trends in my log.
