    Cheap protein?

So protein powders seem very expensive to me and probably have more unnecessary chemicals in them than Charlie Sheen. What is the best protein source for a budget if I'm trying to lean out? Do they make unflavored protein powder? I can get soy isolate for cheap but I've been told to stay away from it due to estrogenoids. Would i be better off just getting chicken breasts for $1/lb at the grocery store and eating a bunch of that? I've found "the deal" on a lot of other products (stimulants, vitamins, etc) but protein powder still seems pricey no matter where I look.

If you can get chicken breasts for $1/lb you won't find anything cheaper then that.

Protein powder is the cheapest form of protein. Canned tuna, canned salmon, canned chicken, chicken thighs...etc, are all forms a decently cheap protein also.

Don't know if it qualifies as cheap, but NOW has an unflavored/unsweetened protein isolate. I'm currently working on my second 10lb bag and like it better than any of the flavored/sweetened protein powders that I've tried.

http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/now/whey.html (Look for the unflavored variety.)

I've been mixing it with either milk or lemonade.

You pay 10 euros for a kg of chicken? Wtf? Chicken is around a dollar per pound, or about a fifth of what you're paying. God, Europe sucks.

walmart dot com sells a 3 pack of body fortress advanced whey protein 2 pound tubs you get three, and get to mix and match flavors so 6 pounds for 39 bucks and free shipping to your house. That is the cheapest protein I've ever seen. My brother just got it last week and it tastes great he says and seems to be doing the job.

the hated on MGN whey brand is cheap high source of protein. They have a bunch of flavors... cinnamon bun, cake batter, chocolate mint, peanut butter, strawberry banana, ice cream sandwich, etc.
    2 x 5lb tubs is like 74.99 or something @ Muscleandstrength.com
25grams of protein per serving and 110 cals per serving

and then Muscleandstrength.com has their own brand of whey protein now
called Isofuel. They have a ton of flavors like MGN too. and its cheap like for example 4 2lb tubs for 66.99 I think.
25grams of protein per serving and only 104 calories.

I'm gonna try Isofuel next month when they restock...

Yeah bro, it is. Fosters farms boneless skinless chicken breast (unfrozen) is about $1.29/lb at Smart and Final and goes on sale for 99c every so often.

Leg quarters get down to around 89c/lb.

I can also get 150 eggs for 17 dollars. You read that right, 12 1/2 dozen eggs for 17 dollars.

Whole eggs, often less than $2 a dozen (72g protein/dozen eggs + lots of yummy fats). Canned tuna is an inexpensive option as well.

Edit: If you're going for powder, MuscleFeast products are the cheapest I've seen (google it)

Looked at muscleandstrength, the deal is 10lb for 80 bucks, slightly more per pound than walmart's body fortress at 35 for 6lb. *Much better than the Isoflex I got locally, 2lb for $40 (with tax).

The guy at Max Muscle was spitting all this jargon about absorbtion rates and bioavailability and yadda yadda. *I'm assuming that unless you're some hulked-out musclehead in competition mode none of that really matters, right? *Whey isolate is whey isolate?

Gigahertz, where did you buy chicken breasts for $1/lb??? Hey to all, I am new here, usually i took care of my body passively and inconsistently, but i am prepared to make it a part of my life now. And i searched for the cheap protein on the internet and usually try to test different producers. Don't know if price determines the quality of the proteins... But sometimes i found quite cheap. For example £43.99 for 5 lbs.
