    20 Rep Squats

So I came across the 20 rep squat routine and read so much about it. I thought I'd give it a try starting Friday because I just did a workout today and need to rest. I found this version and I wanted to know what your thoughts of it are. Also, anyone who has done this routine, what are your thoughts? Was it really a "Balls breaker, widow maker, etc." Routine? Did you make insane progress? I'm just trying to get as much information from it before I start. Here's my version...

    Squat 1x20
    Pullover 1x20
    Bench 3x10
    BB Bow 3x10
    Clean/Push Press 5x3 (Monday/Friday)
    Deads 1x15 (Wednesday)
(3 rounds of bodyweight chin-ups, dips, and sit-ups.
Everything is taken to failure and 1 min rest is taken between exercises.)

Yeah it sucks and it's mentally tough, but I don't like it at all to be honest

I love high rep squats, but only one set? And the rest of the workout I don't feel is even decent. I do like the incorporation of cleans and push press

Why didn't you like it? Was it too hard? Too boring? Elaborate more.

More than 1 set of 20 reps? Dude you are a monster haha! But serious, why don't you feel like it's decent? It's all compound lifts along with body weight workouts.

Stabilizers will crap out before your legs actually get a significant amount of work, particularly the inner abs that brace your spine. It's hard no doubt, but it doesn't actually hit the wheels as hard as people seem to think. Rest paused squats are far better.

It's a great routine and it will definately pack on mass and increase your squat if you do it right.

I only did it for 4 weeks, did not follow the instructions and didn't drink enough milk or eat enough, and I still put on 20lbs on my squat and I've could've put on more if I stuck with it. But I didn't have a spotter and the squats kept getting harder so I was worried I would fail, so I stopped.

So follow the instructions, drink the gallon of milk a day, and you will definately gain a lot of mass and strength, especially your legs.

    Pull-Overs: 1x20
    Bench Press: 3x12
    Bent-over Rows: 3x15
    Stiff-legged Deadlift: 1x15

Never tried it. It sounds a bit gimmicky to me, especially given the common knowledge that low reps are best for building strength.

I made pretty good gains from Wendler 5/3/1, but then again I only squat 325, so someone else can probably give you a better opinion.

Thanks for the tips, I'm still gonna try it. It's only 6 weeks so it's not a big deal. Will post updates

i used to do high rep squats but I did 3-5 sets of them lol.

they burn the **** out of your legs and your lower back tightens up but they will help your progress.

    I did 20 rep squats after doing a couple heavier sets. I haven't done them in months though. I think the last week I did 20 rep squats it looked like this;

    260 1x8
    275 1x5
    300 1x5
    225 1x20

You have to be very mentally tough in order to get through it. The first 10 are a piece of cake. 11-15 you're really starting to feel it. 16, 17, and 18 you'll want to give up. You really gotta push yourself to not give a f*** how tough it is and just push as f'ing hard as you can.

    I went from 185 1x20 to 225 1x20. I added 5 lbs to it every week.
    355 Bench
    565 Dead
    520 Parallel Box Squat

You take your 5-rep max and decrease 90lbs, so by the end of the 6 weeks you should be squatting your old 5-rep max for 20 reps
