Really? I was unaware of a correlation between thyroidal issues and water retention, I'll look into it and see if I can dig anything up.
Another reason for the excessive water retention I believe, is my creatine supplementation. I began while I was on my diet and didn't see much water weight gain at all, if any. I read that about 40% of creatine does not get absorbed when no carbohydrates are present in the diet, and at the time there were none.
Meaning maybe now that I'm ingesting carbs, the creatine is becoming better absorbed and therefore I'm starting to get my "bloat weight" now. Possible.

Edema is actually a known symptom of hypothyroidism. Plus renal function is also affected which could contribute to weight gain.

Creatine makes this, well, it happened with me, so...probably it is this, just make sure to drink MORE water, if it does not go, i would worry, but relax (:

^yes. You should know by now that weight is a poor indicator of what you are aiming for. You want to look at things in a purely muscle or fat scenario, but weight changes indicate so much more than that, its really not worth stressing over a few lbs. Overall trends in weight over time should matter...but the specific #s day to day really dont indicate ****.

Hunter, water retention is nothing to worry about. Plus CM upregulates GLUT4, which helps shuttle CHO through the cell membrane and keeps it IM.

I don't look any fatter unless it's at night and I'm bloated which has been happening constantly since carbs have been introduced. lol
Yup, I'm trying not to worry.
I know bro, I know. Hey lets look on the bright side anyway. Even if it was "real weight", which we know it isn't; I'm still active and lifting heavy and busting my butt in the gym, so partitioning of that weight gain will still be better yielded to muscle (hopefully) anyway.
inb4Ibulkto200poundson2300calsperday
Truth. Any weight retention from the mono shouldn't make me look any fatter anyway since you're right about the weight being held IM instead of in the subcutaneous fat layer.

Thanks bro, welcome in!
Alright guy.. I'm honestly feeling pretty sick. I'm going to bed early.
Food updatez: Only exciting thing was some cinnamon banana bread I made and covered with chocolate peanut butter frosting. $$$
Also, I have this sick idea in my head that combines peanut butter sushi and bread pudding together. Already have it planned out to try on Saturday (high fat day ).
Lifting updates: Good lower day. Doing calves one at a time as suggested worked great. Finally could stress them enough to get into the 6-8 rep range. Hams were extremely sore and I'm confused on whether I should keep the goodmornings on Thursdays or do SDLD twice per week. The goodmornings didn't hit my hams the way I thought they should - or I was doing it wrong. More experimenting to come. k.. feelin' sick. bed time.IIFYM - not even once.

CM = creatine monohydrate
IM - intramuscular
Wine must have helped.
Not sure what is GLUT4 though.
Chad, banana bread looks awesome, did you bake it with protein powder or is it legitimate?

It was the same type of thing as last time.
Thanks, I feel a little better today.
I'm enjoying it so far. Pretty balanced.
Peanut Butter & Co. Best... ever.
lol. I did get to eat the whole loaf. Just a jar of PB was out the question..
Thanks and thanks.
Okay guys. I'm effectively dirty bulking on lowish calories and high activity. This is getting depressing.
You're all now accountable. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/huntercml
That is my daily food log, where I'll also post activity. I follow the diet down to the letter. Weigh my food.. I'm very obsessive.
So now you have everything I've pretty much ever eaten since I started logging months ago. And from today on I'll track extra activity as food notes so you all can see. I've almost gained all the weight I lost in the past 2 weeks back.. and I'm starting to worry.
"Stop being so scared you ******* it's water weight." - saying that doesn't really sooth my mind when the scale keeps going up. Obsessive people and people who have struggled with EDs will know what I mean.
Ok. Upper day.IIFYM - not even once.

It's certainly super easy to use because the protein content is outrageous. The only issue is it doesn't bake like regular flour. I'd say it's only good to use for very dense muffins or breads. Cakes are pretty much out of the question.
With that said I attempted a pumpkin roll recipe with it today. Used a chocolate peanut butter pumpkin frosting instead of the regular cream cheese frosting you normally see.
Way more dense than the original recipe (less cake like) but it does keep you full for a long time.

July 4th though the 16th (2 weeks) did you do a PSMF to hit a certain weight (looks around 1500-1600kcals)? For someone your size (6'1 165) I don't know if that would of been the most "Optimal" move. (but what is done is done so lets move on)
Be consistent, dont stress everything to a T (say if you have a meal off here or there out with family or friends), just workout hard and continue to hit those macros and be patient everything will fall into place given time. You are still young and have a lot of newb gains left. Your body will recomp will as long as you get that metabolism revving again when you slowly up those calories.
In for the ride and support bud.

Yeah dude, try not to sweat the small stuff . You're trying to gain lean mass, therefore there will definitely be an increase in scale weight. You just introduced more carbs to your diet, so glycogen and water play a huge role in increases. I know it's really tough to see that number going up (I myself struggle with this at times), but it is just something you will have to learn to accept. You already know how to get lean, so just try to focus on getting your swole on . Eating more is a lot more fun, anyway lol
