Competed last Saturday (July 9) and won the open middleweight class at the NPC Louisiana Championships. Tough class, it was very close and I was lucky to come out on top. Did not win overall, the Light Heavyweight was a monster and was the best competitor in the show by a mile.
Did a 20 week prep and lost about 35 pounds overall. Definitely came in a lot lighter than I had anticipated, but I didn't use the scale much in my process and probably didn't weigh in at all during the last 6 weeks (until Peak Week started), because I didn't want my dropping weight to freak me out and cause a backlash. The first time I competed in 2004, I made the mistake of being overly concerned with my weight and I didn't come in hard enough, and I didn't want to make the same mistake again this time around.
Sunday: weighed in at 164.4 in the morning
Monday: weighed in at 165.0 in the morning (carb up day)
Tuesday: weighed in at 178.2 in the morning (after carb up). Filled and spilled!!
Wednesday: weighed in at 174.8 in the morning
Thursday: weighed in at 172.8 in the morning
Friday: weighed in at 168.2 in the morning. Weighed in at 163 at weigh ins that night.
Satuday: weighed in at 161.0 in the morning.

Pretty much figured that lol. Now a question....Did you load at all before bed on Friday night? I was thinking of running the same protocol as you, but loading the night before, and continue loading when I woke up....more for a stomach distention thing.

didn't load on Friday night, just to play it on the safe side. I had a friend give me a basic outline of what to do, but didn't have anyone keep an eye on me to give me instruction on when I was dry enough to go ahead and start throwing carbs and sodium back in me, so I waited until the morning of the show. I wanted to be sure to be dry and not spill over, so I was more conservative than most.

Thanks for answering my questions. I'm also doing a heavy, quick load as opposed to the traditional week-long load and just looking for insight.
Reason I ask about how much is because each weekend, I've been loading/refeeding in a short time span and I think I've found the right amount right before spillover....just looking to compare.
Any other tips would be helpful as well. Thanks!

i was told to intentionally spill over with an early load. i was told "if you don't spill, you're not full." i think my sh!tload on Monday was about 350g fat and 1500g carbs. i was also instructed to use "nasty, salty starchy carbs" for my sh!tload.

350g of fat and 1500g of carbs. Is this real life?
That's way over 10000 kcal (including protein you must have eaten). Wow.
Secondly starchy carbs are the only choice besides sugary carbs. Why do people say "those nasty, fattening STARCHY carbs". Do you realize starch = complex carbs and sugar = simple carbs. There is no other carbs (there's fiber but that's besides the point).
Anyway there's nothing wrong with carbs that are salty and starchy. If anything "starchy" carbs are the better choice because sugar is the only other one.

yes
150g carbs daily
yes. I didn't want to use his method.
the sh!tload was actually pretty miserable. i stuffed myself to the point of being very uncomfortable the entire day.
i'm well aware of what carbohydrates are and so is the guy who outlined the program for me. my question to him was exactly that...i was going to initially do my carb up on Tuesday, July 5, so I had asked him if I could just stash my desk full of candy bars and pop tarts and munch on them all day long. He said he didn't like sweets for the carb up and preferred "nasty, salty starchy carbs"$157 billion creates 650,000 jobs = $240,000 cost to create or save 1 job

I'm doing a trial peak week this week and have my "****load" fall on my refeed day, so it's not too far from what I'd be doing anyway other than the timing and water manipulation.
I'm gunna just go about my week as usual, and right before bed, slam a box of Pop-Tarts. With 40g fat, 280g carbs, and ~2100mg sodium, I'm thinking it'll fill me out while drying me out as I'm cutting water at 7pm on Friday. When I wake up, depending on how I look, I'm gunna go get a few of those Strawberry Cheesecake Pancakes from IHOP. Most likely won't need to eat the whole batch as I loaded a little before bed, but we'll see how I look and go from there.
I've also been dieting SUPER low carb (60g), so I don't need much before my body starts to smooth out. There's a point where I may not be completely full, but I'm dry and pretty hard, and that beats spilling :-)
Thanks for answering all my questions man. Peak-week is nerve-wrecking for me as it's my first show, and from my research, a lot of people have success on a ****load if water is controlled properly.Fat to Fit to Fat to Bodybuilder

What the...I don't even....too much. Front load is fine but wtf at that amount lol. I could possibly see the carbs based on your lows of 150g a day but 350g of fat? So not necessary. You only needed slightly more in the way of fats than your low day to spare the carbs from being burned for energy in order to fill up. I think you would have been much tighter and drier w/ lower fats on that front load.
Either way, cool concept on the pics.
