Ok, here I made a couple today. I have not lifted much since 2009. I play around with weights in the garage and am now doing AMRAPS for metcom after heavy lifts. This is my 5 week back to working out. I also started Paleo this week to get the fat off.
Current stats is: 44 years-old / 6'4" / 309lbs
First video is me benching 400lbs and then I bench 225 x 24 reps to burn out the triceps.

Great posts - gives an "old newbie" some inspiration.
I'm 48 and hit a PR of 620lbs raw back in 2010. Literally the next week I was hit with searing neck and scapula pain and left arm numbness and weakness. In August of 2011 they fused C5-C7. After 8 weeks of recovery I did a very shaky 315. The doc put me on a modified 531 program - Smith machine and reverse grip only to keep things safe "mechanically". I hit 500 on the Smith using reverse grip three weeks ago.
My Doc then gave me a green-light to go back to free-weights and regular grip. Dang! It feels weird!!! He's limited me to below 300 and no more than 10 reps. So, I'm a little bored? But having been relegated to the Smith machine for 12 months really screws up the stability, so I guess he knows his stuff. Based on how light 315 feels (OK, I'm cheating by 15lbs) I'm sure 405 is no prob - maybe 430-450? The recovery from the cervical fusion is supposed to be 2 years, so I'm hopeful I'll at least be back into the low-mid 500's by then.
Great stories, gents!

Personal best over 40
Look I know this isn't super impressive but for me I set a new personal best yesterday. Mind you I haven't lifted this kind of weight in over 24 years so I feel truly blessed that I am able to do this again.
Bench: 325Lbs 1RM
Squat: 405Lbs (to parallel) 1 RM
Dead lift: 405Lbs 1RM
What is scary is that when I did the squat and dead lift it felt light. I didn't want to push so hard the first time maxing out especially not knowing what my body was going to do. Maybe I will set a day aside to just do squats and dead lifts...

Is this thing going again? If so im in again. Im on a quest to bench 2 times my weight. (140.0 benching 280 by 2014) I just maxed out on the 245 x 1 a few days ago but next time ill take video of my new max.
Why do I do this weightlifting thing for the last 34 years with all its ups and downs life has handed me? Because each time I came back stronger. NEVER GIVE UP. Gym life is about more than muscles getting bigger and weights going up. Its wisdom discipline dedication humility you name it.
