    I'm full of weak sauce compared to you guys but my most recent PR is 205, which I think is decent for being pretty out of shape.

    245 lbs I'm 48 162 lbs. The only thing is I can't get the bar to my chest cause it kills my shoulders so I try to bring it down as low as I can.

    ugggh.. why am I such a bench puss. today was chest day and I was doing a whopping 125 x6. I'm new to lifting and expect to see slow but steady gains, but I'm embarrassed while benching. My pulling muscles are so much stronger than my pushers. I work on pushes once per week, I wonder if I should throw some benches in on leg day and double up on that muscle group. I'll keep checking back to this thread for inspiration from you guys.

    To increase your bench try this. Find a weight that you can only do 4 reps of not one more rep. Do warm up sets then do one set of four reps max on flat bench, decline and incline. Then back off no more. Your bench will go up fast.

    So wish I had found this thread earlier. I'm actually trying to meet my goal of benching 180lb by my 40th birthday in October. I'M SO CLOSE BUT NOT QUITE THERE! And I need all the encouragement I can get. LOL

    Maxed out on the flat bench at 145lb last Monday. AUGH A few weeks before I maxed out at 155lbs. I started focusing on my lats, tris, and core to help. Any other suggestions?
    Everyday is a challenge to lift more than the day before.

    I'm 35 in November, so I'll have one month to get some lifts in and post some vids. I'll need the time too, as I'm just getting back into the gym after a 3 month layoff for a rotator cuff injury.

    Open to ideas as to how things should run but here's how I see it.....

    - must be Flat BB Bench only (using an OLY bar). No Incline Bench, Decline Bench or DBs.
    - Raw lifts only. No shirted benching. (wrist wraps are OK though)
    - obviously can be either gym or competition lifts.
    - press can be either paused or TnG (Touch N Go) but no bouncing.
    - spotters can help with racking/unracking only. Full press must be done with no assistance.

    Classes:

    - Ladies

    1st group Up to 124lbs

    2nd group 125-145lbs

    3rd group 146lbs and over

    - Men's

    1st group up to 175lbs
    * djflex: 255 @ 174
    * boathead: 235 @ 168

    2nd group 176 - 210
    * CaptChip40: 305 @ 176
    * korr: 303 @ 181
    * litljay: 295 @ 192

    3rd group 211- 240
    * OS: 335 @ 216

    4th group 241 and over
    * nvr: 275 @ 242

    - Masters Class (60+ in age)

    The winner of each class will be the lifter who posts a vid of the heaviest completed lift.

    In the event of a tie, the lighter lifter of the two will win

    Like the other comps. this will run until the end of the year (Dec. 31st, 2011) and cut-off for new entries will be Nov. 1st. All entries must be 1-rep and caught on vid. All vids between the dates of this month (July) until the end of Dec. 2011.

    Hopefully winners of each class would get mod reps.... if not then just bragging rights.

    Something like that?

    Certainly accepting suggestions from anyone else who has input!
    nice to meet you

    How are you getting on with the rotator cuff? I would have posted a vid here, but I've been suffering with my shoulders for nearly a year now. What treatment have you had?

    Go for it! I achieved my strongest ever bench in my life last year for my 40th. 352lb x 4 reps. I just used a bit of creatine. My chest routine consisted of flat or decline bench press followed by dumbell flyes for a good stretch.

    Try training the rear delts and lats and dont forget those triceps. You may could supplement with some creatine and that will help too. Also dont try and max out very often. Try doing some Dumbbell presses instead for a few weeks and develop those secondary muscles.

    Bench

    I've been trying to max out on incline bench this year. I'd enjoy having a go with a max bench again. I'm currently sitting at 465lb for 2 or 3 incline, Hoping to reach 495 lbs before Sept.

    Hi all, checking in at 234 lb at the time of this vid. My best press is 405 LB, but unfortunately I don't vid often as I lift without a spotter in my basement (powercage). Here is a vid of a 365 lb. press from about 9 mos. ago, and hopefully I will get a higher weight press video up here sometime (if I can pull my wife away from the kids to make another ipad vid). Sorry for the narrow angle, I was focusing on form when I had her record it and was really looking at my shoulder mechanics.

    Bench day was yesterday, so I'll get something in next week or so. Estimated 1RM right now would be 350ish
