"Introduce yourself" forum for newcomers

I've just signed up and it seems like a cool place, but I'm finding it difficult to navigate within the many forums and sub-forums.

Unless I've missed someplace here, it would be great if there was a forum where you could introduce yourself and ask all the dumb newcomer questions that would usually get you flamed, without repurcussions.

This would help confused new users like me a great deal.

If I've missed that place, please point me in the right direction.
