What are the main differences between Bodymedia and Bodybugg? Everyone wants to know, so let's get this out early.

Edit: See link for differences between the two:

There are already entire threads dedicated to this.

And to answer op's question, I found that I burn more calories a minute while sitting on my ass after hiit or a heavy lifting session. EPOC maybe?

Curious to hear about those that have. I plan on starting to do it to get a fix on steady state vs. HIIT and what gets best results for time (for me anyway).

I'm curious to hear if other people usually subtract their base kcal/min when they look at their cardio events. Example, walking for 60 mins with total calorie burn of 700kcal. If your base resting burn is 1.8 kcal/min do people usually subtract 60*1.8=108kcal from their reported cardio burn figure and say they burned ~600kcal? Or usually just the total burn?

thats what i do. subtract the burn you would have if you werent doing the activity. for example, if i wanted to see how much a workout actually burned. I would highlight the workout, write the number down. Then I would move the highlight over to a time i was more sedentary and subtract that from the workout burn.

Its more of an estimate, but thats really all i want anyways and it take 2 seconds to do.

as for burn being higher the rest of the day after hiit or a workout. its very hit or miss for me. sometimes afterward the burn will be above or at 2 kcal/min and other times it wont. its kind of odd, but i assume thats because i get lazy because im tired and dont move around as much

    Thanks for the reply.

Potentially retarded question, is it normal to have a higher burn when sleeping compared to when sedentary? I should probably wait to use this thing longer before I conclude this but just for yesterday, sed ~1.8kcal/min, sleep ~2.1kcal/min. From what I remember on the old thread, that's normal for sed but seems v high for sleeping.

I love this device but hate it at the same time! I burnt about 4600 cals yesterday and ate about 3900, and I am gaining weight I am trying to slowly reverse diet up to my average burn, and then I will begin cutting again.

Ik, ik.. It's water weight and excess food in the GI tract, but what's the point of even having the device if you can successfully lose BF at a certain intake and gain at another, even if it doesn't match up with the device. Obviously because of the amount of calorie burns everyone is reporting, the thyroid output does not match up with the adrenal output.. Thoughts?

same here, everyone who has had to up their cals to adjust to new requirements is reporting weights gain. i have gained two lbs, since adding 500 cals to my diet for the past 6 days, which is nothing really in hindsight, but man, do i feel stronger and a tad bigger, but i am bloated a tad, which im putting down to water weight and excess food in the gi tract aswell. i can tell its water weigh to be honest. im sure it will level out in the next week or so. i also am going to up my cals by another 1000 in 200-250 cal increments over the next month or so. whilst drinking a crap load of water.

Was planning on posting this in the original thread, but oh well. I use the cardiotrainer app on my phone to log my distance ran. It also has a calorie burn option that, when running, is pretty accurate in comparison with the BB (within 20 cals). Went for a 55 minute bike ride, cardiotrainer said I burnt 390 cals, the BB said 280. Just an observation since bodymedia admittedly states it will underestimate bike riding.

Ya, I hope this works for me as well. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy eating a whole extra pint of BnJ a day, but it still screws with the mind sometimes. I guess I will just keep going up in calories until I hit my average, and then from there I will probably cut at a 600 calorie deficit of each day's reading.

yeah im going to do the same, i have complete faith in the machine. all i can say is thank god that i use to have 12,000 cals a day a few times a fortnight otherwise i probably would look like a hot air balloon tempoarrily after constantly upping cals according to what i believe is accurate

This was actually something I wanted to bring up.. I sat in a recliner yesterday and watched a movie on netflix from about 1pm till 230pm, and during 80 of those 90 or so minutes, the BMF thought I was asleep. So honestly, it probably isn't that accurate. I think it's cool that it can track REM while you are asleep (dips in cals/min burn), but other than that, like you said, it is probably an unnecessary extra.

Also, you can get the BMF for about 153 on Amazon with 1 day shipping, just FYI if you do decide to cancel your BB
