Just out of curiosity if I put on a weighted vest and ran with it or carry a heavy back pack while walking. Would the device know that I am burning more calories since I am working harder? I am confused on how it would know that I am burning more calories if it doesn't know I added weight to myself.

Just got the new bodymedia core, the size is so much better. No one would ever really see it now. I am going to miss the bluetooth, but the display device is great. You have everything at your fingertips without needing a phone, it stays synced to the armband all day.

I used one a year or so back for a few weeks (it was a freebie/demo situation) but just bought one of the $69.99 deals on 24hourfitness.

    Question:

    - With the online "subscription" how easy is it to "share" the device?

If I recall you enter sex/height/weight/misc info on setup and it uses that data in calculating calories/etc; if it set it up for myself, a 5'11 180lb male, and use the device/subscription for a few months how easy it is to reset the data for my wife after that first few months?

Does the service "know" you're transferring to another person and try to hit you with some sort of transfer/activation fee, or is it as simple as changing my sex/height/weight/misc info to her's (obviously we'd continue to use the same account/userid/password)?

    Thanks -

When I got my new one, I plugged it in logged in and asked me if I want to continue with the device change I said yes and it started using the new one. All you would have to do is change your stats from there.

I'm surprised there are no Android apps that do similar things to this. Unless I am blatantly searching wrong.

How could a phone do anything like this if it doesn't have the sensors and is not on your body at all times?

There is an android app that syncs with the device though.

While a phone wouldn't have a temperature sensor for galivic response, they do have motion sensors that allow them to detect changes in direction. This should be enough to do most of what a fitbit does right?

So how do you guys take the readings from the bodybugg? I understand you guys wear it throughout the day and through your workout, but do all you wear it while you sleep? I know we still burn calories while we're sleeping so how do you guys usually gauge your daily expenditure of sleeping ontop of the bodybugg reading? Or is it really irrelevant?

You wear it sleeping - actually wear it all the time except while in water (shower, swimming, etc).

...so it counts your sleep calories and, if I recall, even "recognizes" when you're sleeping and creates some sort of "quality of sleep" rating for you based on how long you sleep and how much movement during your sleep.

bodymedia records your sleep, so how long you slept, and how good your sleep was.

The SP is fairly new it is for Ipods so you can sync and watch your calories burned changed rather than plugging into comp. For you other question their are very similar just gowearfit has some more options and shows you some other things. Bodybugg is cheaper and just shows calories burned steps taken etc and they both have online programs that are very useful

Well, no, but neither is wearing a device to record your caloric expenditure "really necessary."

    But it sure is cool!

Does eating 18+ eggs a day interfere with the reception on the armband? I really want to figure out my calories, but don't want to stop my egg program. (Keeps me in shape.)

I think the fine print said you're fine until 25 eggs, and that any subsequent eggs must be eaten while hopping around on one leg.
