    I passed!!

Everyone of those free questions you gave us was on the test !

Everything sirricu.. said was on the test.

Pretty much everything in this thread was on the test!

It's a very good idea to over prepare it makes your testing experience fun.

I was very disappointed with the format. It was nothing like the blue screen and practice test format.

The research question or at least I think they were those. These question were plain wired and made no sense

    Right on, brah!

Bradster, maybe you should edit the OP (if it's still available to edit) to reflect the entire threads knowledge base of the exam so that people don't need to browse through countless pages.

    And check me out... :-D

Anytime buddy, I am trying to help as many people as possible reach their fitness goals and spread fitness knowledge. Which I found out the best way to ensure that is to help passionate and helpful trainers like yourself.

Im aiming for helping 50 people pass by June( 28 now) , as the best time for trainers to reach people is the first half of the year.

I took my test today and passed! I felt like I knew almost everything asked. I did hate how they throw in semi-trick questions w/ 2 correct answers but they want the answer(word or phrase) that they use in the book.
This thread really helped, thanks to bradster and everyone that contributed.
My studying routine was basically watch the video, read the chapter while taking notes and then watch the video again right after. I also purchased the iphone app which was very handy. I took extensive notes for the first 5-6 chapters but noticed that as i was taking the pre-test alot of my note taking was a waste of time because the test isnt evenly spread. There are so many chapters that are ignored in the pre test and actual test. Id say that chapters 5, 6 should be known like the back of your hand for sure.
To review for the test, i met up with Sir Riccus and we went through the pre-test a few times and discussed each question. It was an awesome way to analyze each question and helped to develop a process of elimination for questions I wasnt sure of. While taking the pretest, take your time..... research the questions if you have to... Dont approach it as a "TEST"... Use it as a study guide.
One thing that also helped me... There are several people on this site that have posted their notes in ms-word format. Download them and review them! It helps to read different versions of notes because you havent memorized them.

Page through this thread and pick up on all the questions that have been provided. Almost all of them were on my test.

I 100% agree when taking the practice test i used it as a guide if i didn't understand a question or got one wrong i would go through the text and make sure i got the right answer!

Wow, lots of typos in the fourth edition textbook, however i do like it a lot more compared to the 3rd. Some added sections and the online part is awesome, activities during the videos, online quizes for each section.

I like the fact that videos of each section are tolerable to watch, the 3rd edition had the guy say "personal fitness professional" during every sentence.

I started getting annoyed after the first 3 times hearing "health and fitness professional" and they repeat it about a million times.

New editions just change wording for ease of reading 99% of the time. In the new books towards the front it tells you all they changed since the last edition so you can see examples even in your 3rd edition book.

Just got the book and will be attending a workshop this weekend. Will probably take the test within the next month..since I'm a senior in ASU's Exercise Physiology program and have been certified for 5 years I don't anticipate this exam being difficult. I consider it my warmup for the CSCS which I will be taking this summer.

On a side note I don't know if it's just me but this book is much easier to read than NSCA's book. Most of the material is the same and I've had this material drilled into me for the past year but I definitely prefer NASM's book to NSCA's in terms of easiness to read. So far anyway, I've only read through the first two chapters of NASM.

I definitely agree if you have experience in the field you will notice how well NASM imformation is layed out .

Also congratulations on taking your education to the next level and I appreciate your input on NASM with you being a expert in the field.

I have just visited this discussion and read the thoughts all the guys have posted. It's really interesting to read the review on "how to over-prepared for the NASM".

    Hey all.

I recently decided I want to become a PT because of how much I enjoy fitness and I figured instead of a 9-5 grind why not make money helping people do something you love to do.

I have a friend who has been NASM certified for the last 2 years, so I asked him if I could borrow his book and DVD's to save a bit of money.

My first question of many(most likely) and this may have been addressed already, is, are the 3rd edition books/DVD's still good enough to prepare you for the current test? Just want to make sure before I get too deep into the book if i'm missing some important stuff which i'm assuming not much has changed, but its better to be safe than sorry.

    Thanks in advance!

I attended the workshop yesterday and didn't feel like I learned much other than the OPT model. I do however like the model's theories and am interested in applying it to myself.

With that said, what's this page 169 everyone keeps talking about? I have the 4th edition and it's just a page on static kneeling hip flexor stretch and static standing adductor stretch...

Well, kneeling hip flexor stretches are serious business! LMAO

Page 169 in the 3rd edition is functional anatomy. It's extremely important to learn that to get the CPT cert. NASM puts a lot of emphasis on this.

Sorry for the short answers. I'm on my iPhone.

Sir Riccus is right on the money.

And about the workshops, they are largely dependent on whos running them but at least you got something out of it.
