He means just that. So far example, group the lower leg together and then when you read the book, you see that the isolated function is usually the same. Same thing for hamstrings, arms, shoulders etc.

I just have a quick tempo question.
Say for example tempo is 2/0/2......does this been a 2 second concentric, zero isometric contraction, and then a 2 second eccentric contraction?
This is what I thought, but then I saw the 4/2/1 tempo and that seems weird (a 4 sec concentric, 2 sec isometric, and 1 second eccentric)?

    Any help?

    its eccentric/isometric/concentric

so 4/2/1 would be a 4 second eccentric, 2 second isometric, and a 1 second concentric

im not sure if you already answered this question on the other posts, but on the NASM website they give you choices like CPT exam, CPT pro, CPT premier etc etc. Is the CPT exam(the cheapest out of the rest) a good product to choose to help me pass the test or should I choose the other products that offers more stuff.

Great thread OP, this is going to be helpful in the long run.

So are the workshops worth doing? Are they helpful, or just good for overall review?

what exactly do you mean by this? what are they grouped into and how much detail do we need to go into when studying this?

Well see NASM breaks functional anatomy into individual muscles and many have the same isolated function, so you can easily group the entire quadriceps complex as one note card and write all the isolated functions for the individual parts on the back. This way you hit all of them at once and don't have to waste time on 4 or so smaller muscles.

But its 5am here and I been up 25 hours so I'm going to bed. Hopefully i can be on here regularly again.

From what I've seen, people tend to give themselves an average of a 2 month cushion for strictly studying and then gauge themselves therefor after depending on how confident they are. I was hoping to study my ass off and schedule the exam for around Halloween, but I've rethought it considering how far I've gotten on the material thus far and I'm thinking more like mid-November for me.

I'd say its dependent on the person and their ability to let things sink in. I always preach understanding over memorization and think 3-4 months is a good time for complete understanding .

You break down " knowledge walls" and stuff becomes more and more common sense. Like say you just went over the muscular system and now know major muscles so you can tell me where the quadricep is. Now after awhile that becomes common sense so you don't have to think about it and maybe wonder why anyone wouldn't know that. At that point you go more in depth and learn the individual muscles of the quadricep instead of it as a whole.

This can be applied to anything, no matter how small . Say you can tell the definition of a Golgi tendon organ or muscle spindle at will, now go in depth and learn where they are located in relation to the muscle .

That method lets you develop understanding and common sense instead of cramming information.

Yes it takes longer but it's worth it.

    On CEUs,

They are easy to get and fun in my opinion, I have the PES an d CES so I dont need them for 4 more years.

Also they can be cheap if you find deals , some even free.

NASM requires 2.0 CEUs every 2 years

    so...

if you get the the PES/CES in the beginning it give you almost 4.0 CEUs and you dont have pay for anything else

but the 2 yr standard renewal fee?

Well like me doing them both so early I wasted 2 CEUS essentially. You can only "store" for next CEU requirements in 2 years so you'll pass that but you can't do 4 or 5 courses and save them up. I just considered those courses important now.

But yes, no big fees except the actual courses, renewal fees you can get out of anyway.

42k is accurate and easily attainable I'd say, I have buddies making a lot more and don't know anyone devoted making less.

Just remember you have practice applying the knowledge and people skills as well as the courses to make good money, like any career.

so you could get CPT and CES as a package and youd only have to pay the $100 renewal after 2 years?

    hmmm

Now I am confused. See i completed the CES so I have my CEUS done that are due in 2 years. So in 2 years I will pay the 1.9 CEUS ( continued education units) to renew basically then 2 years later I will have to do it again.

If you do the CPT then immediatly do the CES you wont need any CEUS for 4 years. But If you do the CPT then get the CES and PES like I did ,you still will have to renew in 4 years , I cannot stack the CEUS, 1.9 from the PES are wasted.

and in case your wondering about the 1.9 , renewing basically costs 1.9 as you get .1 free.

EDIT: CEUs is confusing for me especially late at night with lack of sleep so hopefully that cleared it up for you and me lol....

But yes you are right do the CPT then the CES immediately and the CES gets you your CEUS for the next 2 years, so you'll be good to go for 4 years.

But I am pretty sure you cant package those as you need the CPT before you can start( buy) the advanced programs ( CES and PES)

i talked with a few NASM trainers and it would appear that you cannot rollover CEUs

however if you have recently completed the CPT and then do another one
(PES, CES, etc) then it counts towards the 2.0 CEUS you will need to renew in 2 years

but if you choose to do more in those 2 years (take PES + CES in 2 years)
then all you are doing is spending money on more education

it will not count for additional years

Exactly what I was trying to say, hard to type that on my phone.

I wish CEUS stacked I'd have 8 years until I needed them when I finish the nutrition course soon. I have tried a few times to get a representative to let them stack lol.

But like for me it isn't a issue, normal CEUS can be around 99bucks and sometimes free if you catch a deal which is worth paying when your training full time.

yeah, you definitely know your stuff and would be set up for a while

$100 for CEUs doesnt sound like many CEUs

and keeping up with specials sounds like a good idea all around

100 dollars can go far sometimes believe it or not , if a new course comes out they might offer it for 99 and be over 1 CEU , then you pick up a free one and finish the rest. My buddy got all his for 99 last year.

Ill post here if I see any deals because I check for courses and workshops in my area often anyway.

Hey man ^^, I prepped for the NASM CPT prep for about a month (7 hours/day) and I checked out your previous post this weekend and it made a significant difference. I took the exam today and passed on my first attempt, and I probably would not have done so without your helpful guide. THANK YOU!
