Hey man, first off, it's more than possible. It's only a question of how much muscle you wish to preserve.
I, along with the general community here, recommend to preserve as much as possible because you trained hard
to make all those gains and all that strength, right? You don't want to have a six pack, but not be able to pick
that one girl up and throw her into the pool/ocean.
That being said, 500 calories is NOT A MAGIC NUMBER, everyone's caloric intake is different, if someone's maintenance
is 1500 calories, and he cuts 500, that's a 33% deficit! That's aggressive! On the other hand, if someone eats 3200 for
maintenance, 500 will be a mild 13% deficit.
So- start by cutting 20% off your whole caloric intake, stick with it for at least a month, and then evaluate and see if it's
working out for you, how your energy levels are and what changes you can see in your body.
