I did a 3 week trip of the US last year. Spent 7 days in LA, drove up to San Francisco for 2 days, went to Vegas for 4 days, then 7 days in NYC.
Probably could have spent a little less time in LA, but there is heaps to do there as a tourist if you want. Other than that, wouldn't have changed the trip.
San Francisco is a beautiful city, and if you're with your GF I think it'll be a really nice place to go.Stop looking at me Swan.

Short lived long remembered!
"Because society has pushed them into corners, forcing them to believe they are losers When in fact everyone has so much potential to achieve such magic and wonder, but as I alluded it to they are continually told they cant do it/they'll fail, so they start believing it The truth is: there's no such thing as a "loser" its just a label to make people feel bad"

All I can say is, you WILL look weird and ridiculous to most americans if you wear the stuff you guys wear to your raves (your haircuts, short shorts, etc.) (no hate, people will LITTERALLY think you are ****gy). I suggest getting a crew cut and investing in some Holister or abercrombie and you'll fit in just fine with american culture.
EDIT: Your haircut is fine supaturk, but someone like Zyzz would look out of place.

new york is very expensive, especially to stay in manhattan, any decent hotel on the island will cost at least $200 a night but there is an incredible buzz in that town, if its your first time to the states you do need to stay 3 or 4 nights anyway
orlando is fun especially for a few days, its only a 2hr flight from nyc as well, october is off season and it will still be warm in florida but no tourists and you can get great rates on hotels on i-drive, 3 star hotels go for about $40-50 a night around that time, no queues for rides in theme parks one word of warning don't go to orlando to party, bars (the few there are) close at 2am on the dot and by 2.01am everyone is gone
miami is great, especially south beach, great place to party, beach that stretches for miles, incredibly clean too, if you go to miami make sure you visit everglades national park
san francisco, most beautiful city in america by a country mile, tons of things to see and do, stay away from the tendorloin district though, like new york hotels can be expensive
vegas, 4-5 days is plenty or you will be burned out, leave vegas till last, hotel location is key, make sure your hotel is close to mid-strip as possible, the strip is 5 miles from one end to the other and first timers often make a mistake by picking a hotel miles from the main action, if you have the money go for the bellagio, wynn/encore or venetian/palazzo, if money is tighter monte carlo is nice, if money is tighter again flamingo isn't that bad

Definitely visit San Diego. Beaches, amazing zoo/Sea World/Wild Animal Parks/Museums to take your girl to. Nice restaurants, all kinds of different ethnic foods, and pretty decent night life.

Make sure you book the Alcatraz tour in advance if you go to San Francisco.
Never had any bad experiences with the people. Everyone was actually really nice. I wouldn't call it an issue, but in LA, there are A LOT of beggars. Just random hobos asking for spare change. But never had any hassles with them once you said "no sorry" or gave them some change. It's just a lot more prevalent then we're used to in Aus.
You will love the service over there in the hotels and restaurants, 100X better service than OZ because a lot of the staff work for tips.
And also, something to keep in mind when booking hotels. Most of America's 3 star hotels are as good, if not better than most Australian 4 star hotels.Stop looking at me Swan.

Check out the Arch in STL. Great place to spend the day. I would also recommend the Grand Canyon in AZ. Place is an orgasm for the eyes. Pikes Peak in COL. Is also another good place for a special getaway. Maybe do some whitewater rafting? Is she into adrenaline type of shyt? I would recommend going to a few theme parks like Cedar point in OH. Goodluck and have fun on your trip Brah!I rep back 200+
